Oldest Christian Monastery in Iraq Razed

IRBIL, Iraq (AP) - Satellite photos obtained by The Associated Press confirm what church leaders and Middle East preservationists had feared: The oldest Christian monastery in Iraq has been reduced to a field of rubble, yet another victim of the Islamic State group's relentless destruction of heritage sites it considers heretical.

St. Elijah's Monastery stood as a place of worship for 1,400 years, including most recently for U.S. troops. In earlier millennia, generations of monks tucked candles in the niches, prayed in the chapel, worshipped at the altar. The Greek letters chi and rho, representing the first two letters of Christ's name, were carved near the entrance.

This month, at the request of the AP, satellite imagery firm DigitalGlobe tasked a high resolution camera to grab photos of the site, and then pulled earlier images of the same spot.

Before it was razed, a partially restored, 27,000-square-foot stone and mortar building stood fortress-like on a hill above Mosul. Although the roof was largely missing, it had 26 distinctive rooms including a sanctuary and chapel. One month later photos show "that the stone walls have been literally pulverized," said imagery analyst Stephen Wood, CEO of Allsource Analysis, who pinpointed the destruction between August and September 2014.

Meanwhile back in the States, muslims are complaining that they have no place to pray in the workplace.

Pretty much what Obama is doing here with the homosexual supremacist movement.

Let them pray in their hammam. It may mean "steam room" in Turkish but in Arab countries it's a toilet...now that they do have them.

I was at the grocery store tonight and walked by the section that sells kosher food and I thought to myself: Sly, when was the last time you heard about a bunch of Jews trying to force a grocery store to sell their food - OR ELSE!!

Nope, they go about their business without demanding that others accommodate them, unlike radical muslims.

So, who is really causing the boil on our collective back side?

Cause for a boil, #1. Those who follow Satan's works and turn their back on God. Hard to believe but not all 1.6 billion Muslims cause me any problems. The Isis murderers deserve Saudi justice, that is, beheading. None dare go there because that will be their "welcome."
HERE, we give them maximum T.V. coverage, maximum news exposure, the rights of an American citizen, attorneys and trials.
They DESERVE Saudi justice...Friday morning head-chopping. No attorneys, no appeals, no news coverage whatsoever. You get thrown into a sandy grave, no marker, nuthin'. You kill; you die.

Cause for a boil, #2. Democrats, especially uberliberal Democrats who will continue to sell us down the river.

=====================================

I've never had a boil. I didn't ever even have any acne. I had/have my mother's great skin. Just the luck of the draw. But boils DO sound horrible. WHAT a great aphorism of Isis, you sly fox, you.

I would go for a moratorium on allowing Muslims to come to the U.S., just for a while, about 1,000 years.

I was remembering Mr. Potter's response to George Bailey about the savings and loan being a boil on his butt for far too long.

That is one of my favorite movies. A compilation of human nature and character.

George Bailey stands for everything good in America.

And Mr. Potter (Isis) is threatening all that we stand for.

Yes, it was a great movie. I can't think of a Jimmy Stewart movie that wasn't good.

One of MY favorite movies was HIGH NOON, with Gary Cooper. He stood up for what was right in the teeth of all opposition. And he had to do it alone. He shot Frank Miller dead.
To me Sheriff Will Kane was the quintessetial HERO.

There will always be Frank Miller gangs. Those Isis murderers will die as well and THEN they get to meet their Maker. It won't be pretty, will it?
