Oh, okay. I’m known for my point-missing.

Not really. You’re a very intelligent woman. I’m distracted.

Thanks.

I have SUCH a huge heart for my Catholic brothers and sisters; I grew up with so many Catholic kids who got drug to catechism, got confirmed, went to confession — the whole thing, but it was all just dead religion for so many of them; just a routine, going through the motions because it’s what they were taught. VERY few retained anything of the love for Jesus and fire of The Spirit that Christ died to bestow upon those called by His Name.

That is a monumental tragedy.

But, God...

In those two words is a bright, shining, fiery hope for not just the restoration of what was, but for that restored body to far and away surpass “the former house” in power, glory, wisdom, might, grace, miracles and righteousness.

Here’s they key though: it’s not going to happen without individuals dropping their Protestant or Catholic baggage. I had to lay down my baggage about Catholicism. Catholics have got to lay down their baggage about Protestantism. Saul — soon to be St. Paul — had to lay down his baggage about the followers of The Way; the Risen Christ knocked it from his hands on that road to Damascus saying, “Saul! Why do you Me?” When Saul — out of a thoroughly orthodox, scholarly, scriptural zeal for The Name of The Father persecuted the followers of The Way, Jesus intervened PERSONALLY to point out that his persecution of them was his persecution of Christ, too!

When we refuse to lay down our baggage; when we write and speak ill of others who have received the call of Christ to “Take up your cross, and follow Me” we do not disparage them only; we disparage HIM!! What horrific evil is this?? How can God bless us when we thus denounce him Him vicariously through our snide remarks about His “other sheep”?

Those who would see the glory of the LORD span the globe “as the waters cover the sea” MUST be in unity under ONE Head; even Christ! NO BAGGAGE ALLOWED!!

I’m distracted, too. Many young persons keep coming by, saying, “Can I play a game? Can I watch a show? Can I have a cookie?”

Patrick just tried again. “Can I play a game on the schoolroom computer?”

They think if they vary the wording, I’ll accidently say yes.

A Protestant pastor ... I don’t even know which denomination if any ... used to come to our meeting in Broken Arrow. One of the things he said that has remained in my memory was, “If you’re going to be a worshipper of God, you have to get over yourself.” There are all different kinds of baggage that impedes the unity Christ prayed for on His last night of ordinary human life.

I've read those things of which you speak many times and prayed many years. I have concluded that it is not the same spirit which manifested in the early church. Some of it if not actually or due to ignorance, is or perilously close to blasphemy of the true Holy Spirit.

And for every gift of God, Satan has a counterfeit.

I have renounced all my charismatic errors in or out of the Catholic church, and will never go down that road again.

Maybe you should do some reading. If you are not Catholic, you have more leeway to follow your own will and intellect.

A person need not possess any of those so-called gifts in our times to be saved.

“A person need not possess any of those so-called gifts in our times to be saved.”

That is true.

“And for every gift of God, Satan has a counterfeit.”

That is true.

“I have concluded that it is not the same spirit which manifested in the early church.”

That is tragically, egregiously wrong.

SOME things have been done in the name of the Spirit that are not of the Spirit, but those who are in Christ, and are sealed with the Holy Spirit of God discern the difference, and what is going on in L.A. right now IS NOT THAT.

We will have to agree to dissagree. I will concede that people of good will with a seeking heart may not be sent away empty. But having been through so much with that sort of thing, it is not worth the risk to my soul, psychological or physical health, or that of my loved ones.

I'm watching live a little of it, looks like it streams live for hours and hours. It is mostly young people doing their own thing. It's all electronic music, drums, sloppy clothes, hands lifted in the air, hypnotic swaying. It's just not for me. Sorry.

Are they all of one acccord (biblical doctrinally sound and in agreement as to interpretation)? Will there be glossolalia or speaking in real languages to preach the gospel to unbelievers? Will there be words of knowledge? Prophecies? And they are finally blessing God a little. And scariest (to me and I have seen it) slaying in the spirit a la Toronto Blessing or Benny Hinn?

There it goes, a woman talking just like Pat Robinson. Shake it a da shundite. More calling out healings. Shak a rah ba. Hepititis B on and on. Do you seriously believe this stuff? I fell for it once. I was young and attractive, men would somehow get my phone number and stalk me, one for years. He's finally dead, and I pray that God will not let his spirit bother me ever again. He had visions and saw we had rooms right next to each other in heaven. Another kooky man calls me and says God is showing him I'm supposed to go into ministry with him. I say God is not showing me anything like that. I have 3 small children. He left his wife. Well I wasn't at the huge meeting at the Masonic Temple, but I heard that guy was in the balcony, standing up, shouting in tongues, they threw him out.

Somebody calling out healings. Just like tv 700 Club and now strangers laying on hands. No thank you. Nobody lays unclean hands spiritually on me and prays any more unless maybe a priest in a Sacrament (even they have gone astray or are afraid to say what they really think because their bishop might approve it). A couple of popes have approved it, and now it looks like this one is reaching out to the charismatics.

It just isn't worth the risk for the little bit of truth that might come out of it.

Did others hear the testimonies of the the three military men who lost hearing in war? Two lost hearing to suicide bombs and the marine lost his from an IED. All three can hear now again tonight.

Also, the lady with a stoke who can feel her side now and not use the cane in her hand. Or the Hispanic man with cancer tumor who could not talk yesterday but can tonight. His daughter translated.

Miracles are His power expressing His love for people.

God chooses to use the manifestation of the gift of word of knowledge (1 Cor. 12:8) to help everyday people like every one of us to realize He loves us as an individual and He knows us personally. This helps people choose to accept a miracle or healing.

All by grace. None of it is earned. All by what Jesus did on the cross and because He is alive today to answer prayer and make himself known to people.

Peace to you.
