“Are they all of one accord (biblical doctrinally sound and in agreement as to interpretation)?”
That’s called eisegesis: reading a whole lot more INTO the text than the text actually says. The text says “one accord”; it does not say, as do you, “lockstep agreement in all respects.” That level of alignment wasn’t the spiritual requirement for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, it has not been the requirement at any hour in human history, and it is not the requirement in this hour, either.
“One accord” means we agree in this moment as to what we are praying that God will do. That sort of agreement doesn’t necessitate that we first align perfectly theologically; it doesn’t require that we align denominationally; it doesn’t require that we think uniformly about the sticky wickets in the scriptural text — that just isn’t necessary to being in one accord; because what God is going to do — what He’s calling upon us to cry out to Him for in prayer — isn’t about us; it’s about HIM.
We never merit or deserve God's mercy or grace. If we did, it would make God a debtor and it wouldn't be mercy or grace.
He also Judges. He judges groups as well as individuals. As a nation, indeed we might end up facing divine discipline by being judged as a nation.
This is the man who slayed me in the spirit, the one and hopefully only time I will ever dabble in that manner of black arts. I also started babbling in some sounds I remember a little, but the catcher caught me, and I didn't go completely down or out. I'm not prone to hypnosis or suggestion; I felt something like electricity or static in the atmosphere around me. I didn't feel good inside during or after, didn't feel fear but didn't feel peace. The best I could say is it felt relaxing. The man's name is John Wesley Fletcher, now deceased, other unsavory rumors about him on the internet, mentioned in the NYT article below.
New York Times - PASTOR TELLS OF GUILT OVER INTRODUCING PAIR
Now Jim Bakker is out of prison, first wife Tammy Faye divorced him and later died of cancer, is married to another blonde lady who seems nice, has a TV show, has little cabins for rent on some development, and of all things, Jonathan Cahn who of "The Harbinger" fame is a regular on his show, selling his books and other materials. I know God is loving and forgiving, but I can't understand why Jonathan Cahn would choose his show as a vehicle for his ministry based on Pentecostalism.
I believe these movements are one of several major deceptions of the age.
I pray nightly that God bring this people back to Him, that He guide us and protect us again. And beg for all the righteous people in this country, that He not judge us yet.
This country deserves it, to be sure, but perhaps we can change if we wake up.
Yes, it was the beginning of the Charismatic branch of then Protestantism.
Never. By it's very nature, it can't be deserved.
Just like grace, if we deserve it, then it's neither mercy nor grace.
I fear that Rabbi Jonathan Cahn is correct about God's judgment coming on us as a nation.
I read the book The Harbinger, and seen some other video clips of him warning our leadership of their need to repent and turn to God as God is sending us warning signals that all is not well.
They aren't listening.
Nobody wants to live through the end times, with the Tribulation and judgment that is coming, but some generation is the one which is going to see it and I fear that we are the one.
There are just too many things set up in place that allow the fulfillment of Bible prophecy in ways that have never been possible before.
Likewise in the Syracuse area. There are ecumenical prayer groups praying for revival and renewal in Central NY. And I believe there are even some Catholics in it. :)
Yeah, like if it’s on the schoolroom computer, you might be tricked into thinking he’s doing something educational.
Nor does a person need to possess any of the gifts to have been filled with the Holy Spirit.
More people should have your discernment.
I was not aware of that.
The thing that impressed my most about Cahn is his consistent, no holds barred call to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
FWIW, I've been involved in Pentecostal churches over the years and see what you have seen and agree with you.
There is no *slain in the Spirit* found in Scripture, nor is there the use of the gifts are they are practiced today found in Scripture.
Nor the teaching that tongues is a sign of the baptism of the Spirit and that when people ask if you've been filled with the Spirit, they mean speaking in tongues. And that if you haven't spoken in tongues, you haven't REALLY been filled.

FWIW, I do sincerely hope that revival breaks out and people get saved, genuinely born again and forsake their sin and live for God, and I hope that this isn't just another Pentecostal, feel good road show with lots of claims of God moving and nothing changes in the end.
Revival will always make a difference. If this doesn't and it's just another flash in the pan.....well, I would personally question if it were from God.
That is a very good article.
I appreciate the fact that he addresses as Pentecostalism irrespective of denominational affiliation.
This is the son (14) who will happily spend 8 hours a day doing computerized math instruction ... but I knew he meant ArmorGames.com in this case ;-).
Well said. And if one reads through the prophets, it becomes very clear how our Holy God feels about mixing wrong ways of worship with how He tells us to worship. Yikes!
Agree totally.
Hebrews 12:25-29.
At the same time, God can move sovereignly at any time He chooses to move men to humble themselves and repent - just as every move of His in history was a sovereign move of His grace and not something initiated by man.
All things spiritual and eternal have their origin in Him.......
While I think Cahn has a lot of things probably correct, he goes a bit too far with the details for me with his own thoughts and ideas.......and there is too much self-promotion in his ministry for my liking.......not unlike Hal Lindsay (a former friend I’ve not seen for decades) did in the 70’s and 80’s.........
It is ALWAYS a very good thing for men to humble themselves before God and cry out to Him for mercy and forgiveness......ALWAYS.........
I don’t think this is in Azusa, it’s in LA, on Azusa St. I lived in Azusa from birth to almost 11 years.
