St. John The Baptist Church in Cape Coast, Central Region has placed a ban on provocative and inappropriate dresses in the house of the Lord.
Banned clothings include armless, short sleeved dresses, short dresses, cleavage showing dresses.
Andrew Kofi Wofersor, president of the church stated that the dresses worn by most women to church now is against Christianity.
Explaining the reason for the ban, Wofersor said that Muslims wear what they wear to look decent and not to distract men.
“It is not that the dresses are not good, but they are not good for the church. When we stop them from putting them on to church, at a point in time they will even stop wearing them to public places,” Mr. Wofersor said.
Wofersor urged parents and guardians to monitor what their wards wear.

Not just women, but men too. So sick of men coming in wearing shorts and sandals like this is some day at the beach. This is church show some respect.

God has seen us naked. But the reason the church gave is scripturally valid. Women know that men are visually aroused and men should not have to be tempted in church by the women around them. Women who want to dress provocatively tell us, “Hey, its your problem, not mine. Get over it.”
OK. It is our problem. Help us out ladies.
These people wouldn’t go to their bosses party dressed so casual, but to church.....anything goes!
They don’t kick them out or anything but the priests around here have made it clear that modesty is a must.
At Confirmation they do send them home to change or they get them a sweater or something, and still they show up dressed like streetwalkers.
There was a time when you did not need rules. Plain old common sense and decency were all that were required.
Something was lost in translation here, I think.
This is in Ghana. I think what this person meant to say was “This is a very un-Christian like way to dress in church”
Wear you Sunday best in the presence of the Lord.
The later masses have the more affluent crowd and many wear nice dresses.
Ironically, the local InC church requires skirts, and a lot of them are quite short.
I hand out programs at the door at my church.....several years ago inappropriate dress was a problem, often had to look away. It’s much better now.
Was at church a few weeks ago and one of the altar singers was wearing short shorts and a T-shirt reading ‘Chicago Ballers’. She would have been required to cover her hair pre-Vatican II, even in the pews. How far we’ve come.

I can remember my Grandfather would NEVER leave the house without a hat or tie UNLESS he was working in his garden or such...
Women wore at least a handkerchief on their head (clean I hope) while in Church....
Remember Easter Sunday all the church ladies were showing off their finest Spring outfits and millinery.
Same in court or any kind of traveling...
When I used to do pickups at the airport I knew I would never be mistaken for a traveler as I was too well dressed...Long pants, shirt buttoned, shoes etc etc
I don’t know what’s going to become of the Church. I only partly recognize it now. I was surprised in my reading when I came across a statistic about the many churches among the Amish. Apparently the ones with the strictest Ordnungs (rules) had the best retention rates.

Indeed. Why even make the effort to go to church for more worldliness? One could stay in and read the New York Times on Sunday.
