And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. ( Revelation 5:6-8)

In our previous Article, John saw a book, in the hand of the Glorious One, seated on the throne. The book is held out for any person who is “worthy to take the book and open the seals therof”. Evidently the book, “written within and on the outside“, is the plan of God to reverse the curse of Sin and all of it’s effects, and to bring about the Kingdom of God on earth.

There is no room on it for any more writing, for it is it is a complete and sufficient plan, no man can add to it, it is the plan of God himself. The plan anticipates a full salvation for sinners and a regeneration of the world, as well as terrible judgments on all that is evil, the overturning of the “kingdoms of this world”, and the establishing of the Kingdom of God on earth.

But there is one problem, it can only be inaugurated by a man, a human being. Who is qualified to do this? He must be a man perfectly pleasing to God in every respect, a man who has lived life as the Holy God intended our life to be lived, loving God supremely, and his fellow as much as himself.

Since it was a man, Adam, who by his disobedience plunged the whole race into condemnation, sin, and misery, God has required that a man, undo the damage. The book lies in the hand of the One on the throne unclaimed, for in all of human history, not one righteous, and worthy man could be found. John wept inconsolably because of this.

But there is no need for inconsolable weeping , for there has been found a man who is worthy, a man who has lived an entire life without sin. He is a man who has never broken faith with God, and whose every thought and action has been to please God .

He is called “The Lion of the Tribe of Judah”.

Centuries earlier, the Patriarch Jacob prophesied over each of his twelve sons, his inspired words over each of them reaching all the way to the last days. Of Judah he predicted,

Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee. Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.(Genesis 49:8-10)

Judah was to be the Royal tribe, the true Kings of Israel were to come from it. Jacob saw these kings as being like lions, zealous to execute the policies of God through the Holy Nation. He saw King David, and David’s greater Son, King Jesus! The Sceptre shall not depart from Judah until Shiloh comes. The Word Shiloh means, “He to whom it belongs” and was long understood by the sages to pertain to the Messiah.

When the Romans removed the right of capital punishment from the Jews in 6-7 AD, the Rabbis mourned thinking the prophecy of Jacob had failed, for the sceptre had indeed departed from Judah, where is Shiloh? Little did they know , Shiloh was at that time a Carpenter in training, out in Nazareth!

When the members of the Sanhedrin found themselves deprived of their right over life and death, a general consternation took possession of them: they covered their heads with ashes, and their bodies with sackcloth, exclaiming: ‘Woe unto us for the sceptre has departed from Judah and the Messiah has not come‘” (Jerusalem Talmud, Sanhedrin, 24)

This is why Jesus had to be crucified and not stoned , as the Jews would normally have executed one whom they regarded as a blasphemer.

Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: (John 18:31)

This is the man, who could walk up to the very throne of God and take the book out of his hand. He alone is worthy to open the seals, and to commence the final plan to free us from the curse. He knows, having lived as a human being, tempted and pressed like all of us, tested in everything but never having sinned.

This is the Lion out of Judah that Jacob saw, Shiloh, to whom the privilege belongs. He is the kinsman Redeemer of the human race, the Boaz who purchased his bride by his blood. He is the one Daniel saw who approached the throne of the Ancient of Days, and received all authority and Dominion.

Note that the Jews forgot they weren’t allowed to put someone to death when Stephen gave his little sermon on Jewish history. This points out the fact that they were constrained to do what they did because it was written in Scripture that that was what they would do. The “prophetic” portions of the Holy Scriptures are the boundary conditions for the Universe and all events in it.

One can tell that one is living in one of these constrained periods by observing how many unexpected things begin to happen. Such as a billionaire business man who has written for decades about how things should be done in the country, actually getting into the arena, and winning! Americans, you have been given one last chance to be good again, because that is the only way to Make America Great Again.

Another big hint is that there is actual “sign in the heavens” that matches Revelation 12:1-2 and it occurs on or about September 23-24, 2017.

What do we see when we turn around to see the the Lion of the tribe of Judah? We see the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Hallelujah.

For a perpetual prodigal like myself, I'm officially amazed by how Scripture makes sense of the worldwide crazy here in these interesting times.

Never saw that coming.

I've been listening to BBN radio lately and I like the afternoon Bible reading segment.

He's reading Jeremiah lately, but it sounds more like deja vu.

Apollo 11 Program Alarms

I thought you might be interested in some more detail about the 1201 and 1202 program alarms that occurred durning the Apollo 11 lunar landing.

>>>

You have to constantly keep in mind the amazing - to anyone using a PC today - constraints we had to work with in programming the LGC. There were 36,864 15-bit words of what we called "Fixed" memory, which today would be called ROM, and 2048 words of "Erasable" memory or RAM. With only rare exceptions, all of the executable code was in the Fixed memory, along with constants and other similar data. Erasable memory was used for variable data, counters, and the like. With so little Erasable memory available, we were forced to use the same memory address for different purposes at different times. Thus, a location whose contents might be altitude-over-the-lunar-surface during the landing stage might have contained the results of a sextant sighting of a navigational star from the alignment program. I think there were some memory locations that were shared seven ways. You can imagine the testing we had to do to ensure that the same memory location was not being used by more than one program at the same time.

>>>

On Apollo 11, each time a 1201 or 1202 alarm appeared, the computer rebooted, restarted the important stuff, like steering the descent engine and running the DSKY to let the crew know what was going on, but did not restart all the erroneously-scheduled rendezvous radar jobs. The NASA guys in the MOCR knew - because MIT had extensively tested the restart capability - that the mission could go forward.

119 - Statement Following the Safe Return of the Apollo 13 Astronauts.
April 17, 1970

FOR MUCH of mankind the reaches of space had never seemed so infinitely remote as they did when Apollo 13 was crippled nearly a quarter of a million miles from earth, headed toward the moon.

With Astronauts Lovell, Haise, and Swigert safely back on earth, a surpassing human drama that gripped the world for 3 1/2 days at last has a happy ending. Their safe return is a tribute to their own courage and also to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of those on the ground who helped transform potential tragedy into a heart stopping rescue.

From the beginning, man's ventures into space have been accompanied by danger. Apollo 13 reminds us how real those dangers are. It reminds us of the special qualities of the men who dare to brave the perils of space. It testifies, also, to the extraordinary concert of skills, in space and on the ground, that goes into a moon mission.

To the astronauts, a relieved Nation says "Welcome home."

To them and to those on the ground who did so magnificent a job of guiding Apollo 13 safely back from the edge of eternity, a grateful Nation says "Well done".

On the 7th of Nissan, the first day after the mourning period [for Moses] came to an end, Joshua instructed the Jews [Israel] to stock up on provisions and prepare themselves to cross the Jordan river and begin the conquest of the Promised Land. This was the first time Joshua addressed the nation, and they unconditionally accepted him as their new leader.

The actual crossing occurred on the 10th of Nissan.

Sanctification of the Moon

Once a month, as the moon waxes in the sky, we recite a special blessing called Kiddush Levanah, "the sanctification of the moon," praising the Creator for His wondrous work we call astronomy.

Kiddush Levanah is recited after nightfall, usually on Saturday night. The blessing is concluded with songs and dancing, because our nation is likened to the moon—as it waxes and wanes, so have we throughout history. When we bless the moon, we renew our trust that very soon, the light of G-d's presence will fill all the earth and our people will be redeemed from exile.

Though Kiddush Levanah can be recited as early as three days after the moon's rebirth, the kabbalah tells us it is best to wait a full week, till the seventh of the month. Once 15 days have passed, the moon begins to wane once more and the season for saying the blessing has passed.

Back to the ideal day for the special blessing of the moon, the 7th of the month:

Thank G-d for the Moon!
The Monthly Sanctification of the Moon

Here's the formula: After nightfall, when the moon is fully visible and unobstructed by cloud cover, stand under the open sky and look once at the moon. Then face east and recite the blessing along with a few accompanying prayers. The more people you get to participate, the better—you are, after all, greeting the Divine Presence. If you have a quorum of ten men, kaddish is recited.

Now, Therefore, I, Richard Nixon, President of the United States of America, do hereby designate Sunday, April 19, 1970, as a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving.

A relieved nation was "looking up". God yet again set up the rectification before the problem, the cure before the disease, because the first Earth Day was April 22, 1970.

You just can't make this stuff up.

Interesting that you should bring up the Moon.

It is just the right size and mass, with just the right amount of gravity, situated in an orbit just the right distance away, to give planet earth just the right amount of tidal motion in the oceans to give us just the right kind of weather and tidal motion to sustain life.

And the earth is just the right distance from the sun (called the “Goldilocks Zone) which is just the right size, and at just the right stage in its solar life to give us the ideal conditions for life.

And the Moon, which reflects the light of the Sun, gives us a familiar marker of time...approximately 28 days, the same as a human female, the cycle of human life...

And because of the Moon’s particular rate of rotation, it always presents to us the same familiar face.

And there are folks out there who don’t believe in God.

Go Figure.

A lovely post, thanks!

Lots jumped out, all these things about Rachel.

And the Moon, which reflects the light of the Sun, gives us a familiar marker of time...approximately 28 days, the same as a human female, the cycle of human life...

You sure stuffed a lot into that statement.

Genesis 37

8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

Genesis 31

32 With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them.
33 And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two maidservants' tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.
34 Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not.
35 And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images.

Genesis 35

16 And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.
17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.
18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.
19 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.
20 And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.

Rachel's tomb, passed by on the way to exile, passed by on the way back. A "familiar marker of time".

She died and was buried in the way to fruitfulness (Ephrata); she (Ephrata, or Rachel?) is the house of bread (Bethlehem).

House of bread = bakery

John 12

23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

And Rachel, who reflects the light of Jacob, gives us a familiar marker of time

What to say about Rachel: All the flour er flowers of today are from the seeds of yesterday. In those dudaim ("mandrakes") she saw Davids (plural). Naturally, because that's what they were called. The scene with Rachel and Leah - at the time of the wheat harvest - was a remake of the sale of the birthright. Leah, thinking in the short term; Rachel looking pretty far down the road. Typical! No wonder Jacob was smitten. :)

Micah 5 (KJV)

1 Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops [bat gimel David]: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

Rev 12:01, 12:02

from of old, from everlasting

Rachel's death will make perfect sense when all is done with the rectification process. She named Joseph saying that the Lord will add to her another son. There was Benjamin in the near term, but whom did she truly have in view? She got a hold of those "Davids" for a reason...

And because of the Moon’s particular rate of rotation, it always presents to us the same familiar face.

The moon and who is associated with it: Rachel, and David. Traditional date for the birth and death of David: Shavuot, the firstfruits of the wheat harvest.

Of Ruth the women of Bethlehem told Naomi: she is better to you than seven sons. From Ruth, David(s).

All this precision and detail. And there are folks out there who don’t believe in God.

What fun! How do they all fit together...?

Fun... see, it's the joy of the whole discovery process. The other day I ran across a thread about the "sin of worry". Like who doesn't have enough to worry about. You never can be contrite and beat down enough for some folks, you have to worry about being worried! What is that, a symbiosis between battered wives and batterers? Freaky stuff out there masquerading as proper Godly living and attitudes.

Meanwhile, there's all this treasure from heaven just waiting to be scooped up and appreciated. Exciting, innit? It's coming from a whole nuther direction than the sin-bombs. How does the Messiah take away sins? Just tell him. Talk it over. Dump it out. He knows who wants to make it right. What David was doing penning those Psalms. Can you imagine the attitude adjustment that would be required of David from this generation? "OMG" really fits here. :)

Back to Rachel. She was something. There was Leah, holding flowers given to her by her son - her son! Jacob's firstborn - and Rachel asks for a quantity "out of" the bunch. Prepositions are important. Not all, might you, just some. Leah bugs out and snaps to her sister that what, not enough that you've got my husband (Rachel was the true soul mate, after all), now you want my son's dudaim. She didn't say that Rachel wanted a portion *out of* them, but that Rachel wanted them, as if to indicate their entirety.

Fascinating. The drama continues. Well fine okay, Rachel says how if Jacob goes over to your tent instead, in exchange for the dudaim. Again, not a portion "out of" them, but the dudaim. Leah makes the exchange. Ooops. She gets more children, but more are the children of the desolate than those of the married wife. The desolate woman's seed shall inherit the Gentiles. Rachel and Jacob were sure meant for each other. :)

The two sisters were both wives of Jacob, but note Leah's typical pattern for naming her sons. Now my husband will love me, now my husband will be joined to me. On and on. Husband this, husband that. With Judah she simply praised the Lord.

Rachel had to wait a long time to have a son. And when she did, she named him saying the Lord will add to her another. See what I mean?

When Joseph had his dreams, Rachel was already gone, but what was that dream he dreamed? Jacob interprets extemporaneously. Jewish commentaries that explain that Jacob was attempting to dismiss the dream's significance in front of the brothers (they hated Joseph for them), with Jacob claiming, "What is it? Pretty much a junk dream. After all, your mother is already dead, so why pay attention to any of it."

Yet Jacob paid note. This was Rachel's son, after all. His favorite. The kid had... special qualities. There was Rachel.

After all this time, who is thinking much about Rachel's death, or what her grave signifies besides her being there to watch the children/exiles of Israel travel along the road. How about the entire redemption process. Birthrights, who gets what. Double portions. Rachel the soulmate. Her untimely death. Jacob's deep sorrow. You just know it all has to be wrapped up, rectified. She died on the way to "the bakery", the place where the wheat is made into bread (staff) of life. Where David was born. From where the Messiah comes. There's geography, but there is also genealogy.

How to join, how to join. Through the children. Rachel was looking far down the road. Want a kick, read the mandrake story with Leah exclaiming to Jacob, "Woo hoo, look! I've hired you with my son's birthright!" Eh well, bless her heart, what she didn't know. She's not cut out of the loop at all, mind you, just that... does anybody think the spirit/soul of Messiah is from Leah? The mother. It all depends on the mother. Ah, Rachel. Gotta love her.

For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

This whole process is going to sneak up from behind and catch people off-guard. I don't like to be caught off-guard.

Wasn't that depressing? It reminded me of

Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

What's more restorative, honestly admitting to the King that we worry, or thinking that we need to scrub human nature first before we can even sit down with him? What would be left to discuss, the weather? He's got a busy schedule. The healthy are in no need of a physician.

And then I was rereading my previous post and no matter how much I preview before posting, there's always something.

Looked like I was saying that not all prepositions are important, just some. Well hmmm I remarked earlier about what I see people inadvertently posting here. Weird. Funny, but of course I meant the dudaim. Rachel hadn't asked for all of them, but that's how the trade went down.
