Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
The Book of Proverbs
(Proverbs 31)
Sayings of King Lemuel
31 The sayings of King Lemuelan inspired utterance his mother taught him.
2 Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb!
Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers!
3 Do not spend your strength[a] on women,
your vigor on those who ruin kings.
4 It is not for kings, Lemuel
it is not for kings to drink wine,
not for rulers to crave beer,
5 lest they drink and forget what has been decreed,
and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.
6 Let beer be for those who are perishing,
wine for those who are in anguish!
7 Let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more.
8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
9 Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character
10 [b]A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

2. Proverbs 31:10 Verses 10-31 are an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
The status of women in the Ancient World was that of property. However, from Genesis onward, we see a different attitude toward women of noble character (and not-so-noble!) in the Judeo-Christian Worldview. Mothers are listed in genealogies, advise kings, prophesy, and even slay enemies. Deborah and Yael were were actually War Heroes, and Rahab hid the Israelite spies at Jericho. In the Gospels, there are five women mentioned in the Genealogy of Jesus (Matthew 1), women were the ones who braved the Roman State to stand at the foot of the cross, and the first one to announce "He is Risen!" was a woman, Mary Magdalene.
Solomon had a real problem with women, in that he couldn't resist them. It got him into trouble, and eventually caused him to worship foreign gods.
Here we have the wrap-up of the book of Proverbs. The sayings are attributed to King Lemuel, as taught by His Mother. Since there is no King Lemuel in the Bible, it is probably safe to say that this is actually a pen name of Solomon himself. This is supported by the meaning of "Lemuel" which in Hebrew means "Belongs to God". It King Lemuel is indeed Solomon, then the Mother (and indeed, the Woman of Valor" described in this Passage), was none other than Bathsheba!
Come and pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

The Drinkable Book
October 8, 2016
The water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
John 4:14
Because it is so difficult in parts of the world to find clean drinking water, an organization called Water Is Life developed a wonderful resource called The Drinkable Book. The paper in the book is coated in silver nanoparticles that filter out almost 99.9 percent of harmful bacteria! Each tear-out page can be used and reused to filter up to 100 liters of water at the cost of only four pennies per page.
The Bible is also an unusually drinkable Book. In John 4, we read of a particular kind of thirst and a special kind of water. The woman at the well needed much more than to quench her physical thirst with clean, clear liquid. She was desperate to know the source of living water. She needed the grace and forgiveness that comes from God alone.
Gods Word is the ultimate drinkable Book that points to Gods Son as the sole source of living water. And those who accept the water that Jesus gives will experience a spring of water welling up to eternal life (v. 14).
Father, we yearn for the satisfaction that only You can give. Help us discard the things that leave us empty and thirsting, and exchange them for the satisfaction of the living water You offer.
Tell us your story of how you came to know Jesus as the Living Water at odb.org or Facebook.com/ourdailybread.
Jesus is the sole source of living water.
The Samaritan woman thinks of water as purely materialjust H2O. So, in her conversation with Jesus, she is stuck on having to trudge tiresomely back and forth daily to this wellperhaps a hundred feet deepand use muscle power to draw and hoist the container of water homeward. Jesuss statements symbolize salvation and satisfaction in what is both essential and enjoyable in water; He wants to ratchet up her understanding of eternal life in Him (John 4:14). Perhaps the closest thing to a definition of eternal life is found in John 17:3: This is eternal life: that they might know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. Eternal life means having a relationship with God by knowing Jesus Christ.

Father God, thank You for providing us with safe harbor, with living water, and with Your Word. We thank You for the instruction and the hope that is in Your Word. Father, we especially thank You for Your Holy Spirit that works in us, changing us, that we are no longer who we were eleven years ago. We praise You and ask that You lead us each day to live to glorify You.
Ephesians 3: 16 19
That out of His glorious, unlimited resources He will give you the mighty inner strengthening of His Holy Spirit, and I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your heart, living within you as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of Gods marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all Gods children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high His love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last you will be filled up with God Himself.

Agreeing in prayer for Israel and our country’s return to Godly principles. Reading this scripture this morning reminds me of how thankful I am to God for providing me with such wonderful parents who emphasized the love of God and country in our home.

It is a weird coincidence that this Chapter of Proverbs came up right when Mr. Trump is under assault for something he said off the cuff 11 years ago in a conversation he thought was private. I didnt plan it that way, as we have been going through the Book of Proverbs chapter by chapter for the last month.
It wasnt till I got your response that I realized that some might think I was being critical of Mr. Trump when speaking of the Biblical Dignity of Women. YIKES! I didnt mean to give that impression at all. AND, FRs software doesnt give me the capability of editing my original post.
I, for one, would not like to be held responsible for something I said in private 11 years ago. The leftists are doing everything they can to derail Trump, and the best thing he can do, now that he has apologized, is to focus on the issues and upon Hillarys malfeasance, which continues to this day (not 11 years ago!).
And, yes, EVERYBODY in the Bible is flawed...except Jesus, of course! :-)

Nothing is a coincidence.
We are being humbled.
If my people .. Incident
Those who have ears will listen and hear. And they will understand
I do believe that the body of Christ is being drawn closer together. All
Parts of it. I listened to a young black woman on Faux last evening. She had been a Beenie supporter. Her understanding and support of Mr Trump put my faith to shame. “She got it!” She really helped me put the pieces together through the scripture and example she used. Praying she gets more exposure of her beautiful testimony. She as we all should, stood as a sinner with Mr Trump , knowing of the Grace we all so undeservedly have been given
May we be united as One Country Under God ...

You are right about “coincidences”.
I was praying for my friends in Florida yesterday, and then proceeded to do my daily Bible readings.
The chapter in the Gospel came up where Jesus calmed the storm.
And it was the account in MATTHEW.
