Most Americans have never heard of Thomas à Kempis, who in 1418 authored “The Imitation of Christ.” But most of us are familiar with the principle he set forth nearly six centuries ago:

“Of two evils, the less is always to be chosen.”

That’s why this God-fearing Christian can do no other than vote for Donald Trump. Not because the billionaire real estate developer/reality show personality is remotely worthy of the office previously held by such great Republican presidents as Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, but because Trump will subject the body of Christ to less evil than Hillary Clinton.

Indeed, here are five reasons no right-minded Christ follower can cast his or her ballot for Madam Clinton:

During her dozen years of public service as, first, a U.S. Senator from New York, and, most recently, the Obama administration’s Secretary of State, Clinton has been an unabashed defender of Planned Parenthood, which has killed far more babies than Herod the Great when he sought to slay the Christ child.

“I’ve been proud,” said Clinton, this past June, “to stand with Planned Parenthood for a long time. As president, I will always have your back.

Former President Bill Clinton in 1993 signed the Religious Freedom Protection Act, after Congress passed the legislation almost unanimously. The federal law “ensures that interests in religious freedom are protected.”

After the Supreme Court in 1997 held that the RFPA only applies to the federal government – and not states and municipalities – some 21 states enacted their own versions of the RFPA.

That includes Indiana and Arkansas, which enacted religious freedom legislation in 2015, earning the states a rebuke from Mrs. Clinton, who tweeted: “Like IN law, AR goes beyond protecting religion, would permit unfair discrimination against #LGBT Americans.”

Wikipedia lists more than 40 “Islamist terrorist attacks” throughout the world in 2016. The self-proclaimed jihadis have used such tactics as arson, vehicle rampage attacks, suicide attacks, bombings, spree shootings, stabbings, hijackings, kidnappings and beheadings.

The U.S. was the target of a Islamist terror attack this past June, when 49 people were killed, and another 53 injured, in a mass shooting at an Orlando, Florida night club. The shooter, of Pakistani descent, declared himself allegiant to ISIS.

Yet, Clinton refuses to utter the term “radical Islam” because, she told ABC News, “it sounds like we are declaring war against a religion.”

Indeed, she continued, “It doesn’t do justice to the vast number of Muslims in our country and around the world that are peaceful people. No. 2, it helps to create this clash of civilizations that is actually a recruiting tool for ISIS and other radical jihadists who use this as a way of saying ‘We are at war against the West – you must join us.’”

Michael Flynn, former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, terms such thinking by Clinton and others who share her views on radical Islam as “self-deception.”

“You cannot defeat an enemy,” he said, “that you do not admit exists.”

With the untimely death of Justice Antonin Scalia, and the advancing ages of Justices Ruth Bader Ginsberg (83), Anthony Kennedy (80) and Stephen Breyer (78), the next president may very well appoint four new justices to the high court.

That will bode ill for the Religious Right if Madame Clinton is elected president.

Under the faux-conservative Chief Justice John Roberts – appointed by Republican president George W. Bush – the court made a “surprising move leftward,” the New York Times reported last year.

For its 2015 term, the Roberts Court “had a greater percentage of liberal decisions than any since 1969.”

So what might Christ followers expect with a six-liberal majority – led by Roberts – on the high court?

Well, the majority might decide to revisit the federally-enacted Religious Freedom Protection Act and strike it down, much as the Roberts Court in 2013 declared the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional because it specified that “the word ‘marriage’ means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife.”

The new Clinton-appointed majority might also decide to reconsider the 2014 decision in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby in which a 5-4 majority struck down Obamacare’s contraceptive mandate, which required faith-based corporations like Hobby Lobby to provide birth control pills to female employees, married or single.

Jesus warned his followers about the hypocrisy of leaders who feign piety. “Whatever they tell you to observe,” He preached, “that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.”

That applies to Clinton, who in November 2015 tweeted: “Every survivor of sexual assault deserves to be heard, believed and supported.” Yet, hypocritical Hillary did not apply that principle to survivors of assault at the hands of her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

His victims include Paula Jones, who alleges that Mr. Clinton exposed himself to her and sexually harassed her, Juanita Broddrick, who alleges that Clinton raped her in her hotel room and Katherine Willey, who alleges that Clinton groped her in the Oval Office.

Mrs. Clinton neither heard nor believed nor supported any of those women. “Hillary is not for all women,” said Broaddrick. She “is only for one woman and that’s herself.”

Hillary Clinton professes to be a faithful Methodist, but her views are contrary to her professed faith. For instance, The United Methodist Church declares: “We support laws in civil society that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.” Clinton supports LGBT marriage. The UMC declares its “belief in the sanctity of unborn life.” Clinton is an unabashed advocate of abortion on demand under any and all circumstances. Shame on those who check their Christian values at the voting booth by basting ballots for Clinton.

This American has had a copy in his library for many years...

Go, Trump, GO!

All of these reasons are good.

Many Christians need to think twice as they enter the voting booth. Try to imagine in your mind’s eye 100 dead babies. Then imagine that image multiplied by 120,000.

Number 4, packing SCOTUS with liberal judges, is the stinger for me because the effect could last 50 years or more.

Think about what is really happening in America. Starting under Lyndon Baines Johnson the Democrats destroyed the Black Family along with the poor White Family. He made them lazy and irresponsible by giving them Government Aid. He then destroyed the poor families by setting it up to where they had to separate the family to get the money. Then the Democrats bought the NAACP,Jackson's and Sharpton's. In the last two election they bought votes and put Obama into office who willingly went along and divided America further along racial lines. Now the Democrats like Terry MacCaluffe in Virginia is allowing felons to vote while Obama is pardoning as many criminals as possible. The US Chamber of Commerce and Hillary want to open our borders so many more poor people will come in and work for the rich while knowing the poor in America can hardly survive anyway. America aborts a million babies a year and talks of other nations brutality. It is a fact America has become a cesspool of ignorance and corruption.

She also STOLE relief money from the poor people of Haiti, who are still living in the ruins from that earthquake!!!! Now they have Hurricane Andrew to deal with, too!!!!

And she corrupted our government, with “pay for play”!

Then there is the bombing of Serbia, and the disastrous “Arab Spring”, which unleashed tens of thousands of jihadi muslim barbarians onto Europe and America, as well as wiping out whole Christian communities in the Middle East, through the genocidal mass-murder of Hillary’s muslim allies!!!!

These are just the most egregious of Hillary’s crimes, and evil proposals! There are many, many others!!!!

NO Christian or Jew should EVER vote for Crooked Hillary clinton!!!! She belongs in prison, NOT the White House!!!!

My city is about 200,000. Multiply that by 60.

According to the 2010 census, there are 69 cities between 150,000 and 250,000 population. Total population about 13.2 million.

Just for perspective.

I agree with the 5 points.

I disagree with both your denunciation of Trump and exaltation of Lincoln.

Lincoln was an unConstitutional tyrant who destroyed State’s Rights in favor of an illicit Federal government.

State’s Rights were forever crippled by Lincoln, and the Federal leviathan has only burgeoned in the wake of his actions.

Slavery could have been stopped peaceably through economic and political means following Constitutional secession, without costing the lives of over 600,000 white males. (There are your “reparations”!)

As an ordained minister myself, who has no hesitation in voting for Trump, I say: keep your sanctimonious pontifications out of this.

God used Cyrus; God can use Trump.

Do you think that the good ol’ boy, Dubya, was more worthy of the presidency than Trump is? Do you really regard him as a sincerely penitent Christian?

I suggest you focus more on spiritual discernment and less on legalistic superficiality.

What in the world is a "yogic" cowboy?

Do you stand on your head on your saddle while ridin' the range?
Do you eat tofu with your beefsteak?
Do you sit in the lotus position while watching rodeos?
Do you bust broncos in your yoga leotard and tights?
Do you brand those doggies while chanting "OOOOHHHHMMMMMMMMM"?

Do you really think God-fearing people need to be told any of this? No disrespect intended, but having to cajole supposed people of God means they really aren’t, that they believe Hillary has something they want and could care less about God.

I don’t think Trump is evil. He’s flawed, but not evil. I know Hillary is evil.

There has been no perfect president. All the globalists we have had since the end of the cold war have been dang gone evil, though. They have an ideal to kill the Republic and impoverish the American public for the glory of globalist corporate and government rule in a Chinese model.
