How do Muslims define themselves? By the Koran.
The Muslims worship a different God than Jews and Christians.
The Muslims who believe the Koran to be their holy book by default worship Satan, a created entity of limited supernatural powers.
There is only one God, you are correct; only one Creator God; but there are only two sources of supernatural power in the universe: God and his fallen creature, Satan.

Dubya, bless his heart, was motivated perhaps by an earnest quest for understanding, but understanding Islam is not really that difficult. Choice of three: A) Become one of us, the Noble Islamic Gentlemen, adopting ALL the prescriptions and proscriptions as written out in the Koran and interpreted in the various Hadiths; B) Keep your present faith, accept the designation of Dhimmi, but acknowledge that Allah is the god to be worshiped, and Mohammed Ali is his one TRUE Prophet, and never again practice your own faith openly or attempt to teach it to others, all the while becoming subject to the whims and demands of the Noble Islamic Gentlemen without question; or C) if neither choice A nor B are acceptable, the unbeliever, the Kufir, is subject to being put to death on the spot. No mercy, no appeal, and no recourse to any law code but that delineated in the Koran, Shariah Law.
Accept these conditions, and of course Islam will be peaceful. Until they are not. And sometimes, something as simple as being the “wrong kind” of Muslim may result in being slammed into the Kufir designation.
The “right kind” of Muslim depends on who gains access to the greater store of potent weaponry. Nuclear, biological and chemical weapons can be plenty potent.
Geneva conventions are ignored by Islamic warriors. “Honor” takes on a very twisted definition, usually exercised to impose severe punishment on transgressors of the Shariah law code.
Muslims are in far greater danger from other Muslims than they are from any other demographic in the world.
