WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - U.S. bishops, who administer some $2 billion a year in federal aid to social programs, are teaching that welcoming foreigners is a higher duty of government than protecting their own citizens.
A recent study by Pew Research showed immigrants are committing the majority of felonies. The study found:
In spite of this evidence showing the danger posed to U.S. citizens by illegal immigrants, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) issued a statement on the role of government, which teaches, "The first duty is to welcome the foreigner. … The second duty is to secure one's border and enforce the law for the sake of the common good."
Since President Donald Trump took office January 22, the USCCB has issued 10 documents condemning White House policy on immigration. Topics include:
The Trump administration has consistently shown hesitancy to accept undocumented refugees from Syria. The fear of terrorists entering the country with fake IDs was recently proven to have merit. Last week CNN reported, "Six Venezuelan government employees have been arrested for allegedly selling Venezuelan identification cards and passports to people of 'Syrian origin,' according to the Venezuelan attorney general's office."
CNN's report adds that some of these "Syrians" who obtained fake IDs were shown to be "linked to the terrorist group Hezbollah."
People are now starting to question whether the USCCB is experiencing a "conflict of interest" regarding its social justice teaching owing to the hundreds of millions of dollars in federal money that flows through their offices each year.

Funny, but the word "felony" appears nowhere in the linked article about the Pew Research study.

Most of the non-USA citizens in federal prisons have committed a felony that is specifically related to immigration.
Since immigration crimes are not prosecuted at the state or local level, that means that 100% of immigration criminals are imprisoned at the federal level.
If you want to know how many prisoners broke any kind of law, including sneaking across the border, then you’d find the Bureau of Prisons number more useful.

The latter cannot be done securely if the former is the higher priority.
