Our Father
WE Know You Are The One True God

Hoe Can we even attempt to approach You?
And Yet You Reach down to us,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The recent "Great American Eclipse" caused a great deal of commotion, even on this very site. People rented rooms in the area of "Totality", News Personalities gave dire warnings about viewing the phenomenon, Some bemoaned the cloud cover, and retailers did a brisk business selling special glasses. Although I live in SE Massachusetts, far from the projected path of totality, we were still warned to keep children and pets indoors during the event. It was a real concern!

A neighbor had the special glasses, and let me use them. It was very eerie and interesting, but I didn't look too long, as I did not completely trust that the device would completely protect my eyes. I was content to look at the photos, taken with special cameras, that were shown the next day on the internet.

How could something SO FAR AWAY (93 Million Miles!) be so Bright, and how could that brightness be so awesome and dangerous? It's hard to imagine the Power and Immense Size and brightness of the Sun! Indeed...the only time we can even get a clue about it is when it is blocked by the Moon.

Moses was privileged to be able to talk with Almighty God. Yet, even Moses could not look upon His Face. God had to hide Moses in the Cleft of the Rock and shield him with His hand. Even then, Moses could only see God's back, and was not able to look Him directly in the Face.

Even shielded in this manner, Moses was changed by the experience. He positively GLOWED. For a while after this encounter, Moses had to wear a veil over his face so that the People would not be frightened by him. The rays coming out of Moses' face made quite an impression on the People, and the Author of the Torah used a word that was mistranslated as "horns" which in Bible Language ALSO symbolizes Great Power and Glory.

And THAT is why Michelangelo, in his famous statue of Moses, depicts him with HORNS coming out of his head! Now you can see how the mis-translation of even ONE WORD in the Holy Scriptures can cause a LOT of Trouble!
