There's quite a long story, which I could recount over a beer, but I'll keep it short. Doc said the alphafetoprotein (AFP) test said my baby could have an IQ anywhere from 30 to 70 to who knows?
I told that doc I no longer needed his services, and fired off an angry letter to him and the distinguished fart of a genetics counselor, too. I said I don't care how many chromosomes he has or what his friggin IQ is. I will have no doctor who does not treat my baby as if he were the unborn Jesus Christ.
Turns out:
My daughter went through a similar experience when her doc demanded she consider terminating her pregnancy while there was still time to try again!
My grandson finished his Masters program in gaining his PA to head over to get more experience in Orthopedics!
Hes spent the last three years teaching in China and becoming headmaster of a school for Chinese young boys!
So much for his limited IQ!
Amen!
My understanding was not that the mother was endangered. Good friends of ours were told their baby was going to have Downs Syndrome and were advised to abort, which they refused, and the baby was born normal to boot. I say give the kid a chance and let God decide.
WOW!
She's lamenting over the fact that there's stigma attached to murdering your own unborn child?
This world is so ripe for God's judgment.......
My ob was a committed Catholic who was known for refusing to do abortions or allow them in the maternity dept of the hospital (which he oversaw).
When I was offered the AFP test by the NP as required by law, I asked, *Is that the test that’s correct only 1 in 80 times?* and she said yes, and I told her *No thank you. Abortion is not an option anyway.*
She looked me right in the eye and said, *I wish more people felt like you do.*
That hospital that he had his practice out of have a VERY low maternal and infant death rate. I’m convinced God honored the refusal to do abortions.
me too
I refused their tests because I told them I wouldn’t abort under any circumstances so what was the point
Bravo. This is the wisdom I would like to see in every women.
I think you are absolutely correct. As I told another FReeper lady, I wish all women had your kind of wisdom.
