I’m a saint, and non-RC. All born-again
Christians are saints.
Paul wrote epistles to “the saints” in the early churches, e.g., Ephesus. That was centuries before someone made up the other stuff. I prefer my sainthood to be established by God rather than guys usurping God’s proper place and power. (But maybe that’s just me.)

“The priesthood of the believer.” If people would understand that basic truth taught in the Bible, it would eliminate a lot of confusion and blasphemy. The Christian life is so simple if one were to follow God’s Word.
No Catholic believes that Sheen or any other saint "performs miracles". "Intercession" by a saint means that a petitioner asks said saint to request of God that a miracle be granted.

I’d avoid NKJ, too, and stick with KJ. My husband says he doesn’t understand KJ. In our evening devotions, we alternate nights reading. He reads from NKJ and I from KJ. One night while he was reading, I was “reading” the same passage in KJ from my memory.
Then his translation went rogue and the word entirely changed the meaning — and not in a good way. I can’t recall the passage now, but it was totally off the rails.
Why did Paul ask his readers to pray for him? Didn't he know he could go to Christ directly?
I’m with you, I prefer the KJ too, and I’ve done some research on some translations and I’m convinced not very many are that great. Some people have a hard time with the old English, but I grew up with it.
The word "saint" is just a Frenchified import of the Latin, "sanctus" ("holy"). A "saint" is a holy person. So, yes, all believers are holy persons, and are called to be holier still. Romans 1:7 says its recipients are "called to be saints," which implies something further is the goal.
We conventionally use "saint" to describe one of the faithful witnesses who has run the race already (cf Heb 12:1). The Bible also uses the word this way, see Thess 3:13 and Rev 8.
You're basically arguing about terminology, not theology.
I think you believe some lying stories. Jimmy Swaggart once said that Rome had murdered 92 million "Christians". In the timeframe he was talking about, there weren't 92 million people in Europe, much less 92 million "Christians" who could be murdered without leaving any trace.
What is a "lie"? That only God performs (true) miracles, or that the saints in heaven can intercede for us?

Of course you are right, but the topic is the process by which the RC Church acknowledges Catholics of particular sanctity. Saints with a capital “s”. I wouldn’t have brought it up at all except the headline was so oddly-worded that I couldn’t think of any American RC it would apply to. Maybe Mother Angelica, but I am not aware that she is a candidate for sainthood. “Televangelist” and “miracles” make me think of someone like Oral Roberts. I don’t know that “televangelist” was even in use when Archbishop Sheen was alive. I didn’t think they would canonize a non-RC but, these days, who knows?

Me, too — grew up with it. KJV is allegedly more difficult to understand, but when I hear other (dumbed-down) versions I have a hard time making sense of what I’m hearing. I have “The Defined King James Bible”, where a section is devoted to showing how different versions dilute KJV.
those are living earthly followers who derive benefit from praying for paul. when we pray for others we benefit as well . nowhere is the Bible are we told to ask the dead to pray for us. defend it any way you want necromancy is an abomination.
Why stop at sainthood? Anyone performing miracles is God, right?
Millions in that time frame I don’t buy, but history shows us thousands. Southern France was cleaned out. They burned Christians at the stake for a long time or beheaded them. The list is long. Lot of martyrs went up in flames.
All who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are saints. Living or dead. They are people. I don’t pray to people to intercede. I pray to the living, risen Son of God Himself. I don’t need dead people to intercede for me.
