Australia Bishops: overcoming fear toward migrants and refugees

The Catholic Church in Australia is celebrating the Week of Migrants and Refugees, from 19 to 25 August. Fear, the bishops say, deprives us of an opportunity to encounter the Lord in others.

By Vatican News

The message for the occasion is signed by the Delegate of the Australian Bishops for Migrants and Refugees, Bishop Max Davis. In it, he recalls the theme of Pope Francis’ message for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees which will be celebrated on September 29, on the theme: "It is not just about migrants”.

A good first step would be for the Bishops to house the migrants and refugees in their own homes. Full time.

“It’s not just about migrants.” Strange, these quotes and pronouncements and articles seem to be ALL just about migrants. What else? Capitulation?

It’s not fear.

Migrants are only allowed by invite.

They don’t have a right to be admitted.

Real refugees are politically, ethnically or religiously persecuted in the home country, not just because they’re poor.

Allow the Catholic Church to help them IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES. The Vatican has the cash.

I have heard there are over 400 rooms in the Vatican. Don’t know if that’s true but at 10-15 per room, that’s at least 4,000 to 6,000 they could take in. If there are 400 rooms, that is.

The world is going to talk itself into anarchy.

There are millions of Arabs and Africans that would love to live inside Vatican City.

The church needs to tear down the wall or stfu.

I’ve been there. It is extensive, and many rooms are actually vast halls. With military style bunks, you could house a host of refugees!

I imagine so. They could put up tent cities in there for another 5,000.

They can now show the world how easy it is.

We get to pick who goes in. MS-13, drug mules, too.

Oh and Angela Merkel’s Muslims. Lots and lots of them.

Tax the Church.

They want this, they can pay their fair share for it.
