Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
Do angels mate? Reproduce? Nurse?
If not, itd be puzzling why theyd have sexual characteristics supporting those activities - even if otherwise bipedal humanoid in form.
Your conclusion from effect to cause, using this problematic verse, ignores angels' well-documented (both scripturally and experientially) innate ability to morph into all kinds of different forms in our world.
With other grandchildren we took our smart, precocious 8 year old grand daughter who is currently aware of sex differences — organs, coloration, size etcetera. She spent some time going sround saying, ‘well that’s a boy.’
It looses interest as we get older.
Do angels mate? Reproduce? Nurse?
From the article and what I know: ...angels are referred to in the masculine and not the feminine even though the Bible does not tell us why this is so.
All else, imho, is mere speculation and conjecture, like Schiffs channeling of Trump.
All of them...
Most of 'em ride around in UFOs...
Ezekiel...
Lots of sex and no women...I hope you're wrong...
Not no women regarding redeemed souls of humans.
Just no Biblical reference to women angels.
We dont become angels. Angels were created as angels, like Lucifer.
In the Greek New Testament, the word for angel is masculine (with the masculine form of the definite article)—for example, in Luke 1.26 and Luke 2.10.
Good point!
"Words mean things" alert!
Absurd to say angels have emotions. Emotion is a product of physical and neurological processes. Angels are pure spirit.
He certainly qualifies as one based on his uber lib and ecumenical beliefs.
Reminds me of that joke about the guy from heaven that got to go down to visit his best friend down in hell. The guy in hell is surrounded by beautiful women and the finest bottles of booze.
The guy from heaven is going on and on gushing over how great his buddy in hell has it.
“Well - it isn’t as great as it appears. There’s no holes in hell.”
There was a series of SF books years ago called “Heroes in Hell” - a shared universe concept where various writers wrote about famous people in hell. In this hell, people could have sex but could not achieve orgasm no matter how much they tried.
It is a presumption that wings are required for flying. How about Ezekiel’s wheels? No wings.
In the spiritual realm, it is likely that wings are not necessary for flying.....as Jesus appears to walk through walls when He revealed Himself to the disciples - and He did not need wings for His ascension......
I didn't say anything about flying ... and it is a presumption that wings are NOT required for flying. Anyway ... you said in your original post ...
Sidenote: Nowhere in the Bible are angels shown to have wings.......in my thinking, they have no need for them.........
It is clear that there are at least 2 classes of angelic beings that DO have wings. And given the details of Isaiah 6 ... namely ...
Seraphim were standing above Him; each one had six wings, with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
It is clear that one set of wings here are for flying.
Also, in Ezekiel 1:24 it specifically mentions the wings of the living creatures (Cherubim) ...
... When they moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the roar of mighty waters, like the voice of the Almighty, and a sound of commotion like the noise of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.
Though flight is not specifically mentioned here ... movement associated with wings is clear ... and it is not insane to assume flying is meant.
It is also unconvincing to appeal to the resurrection body of Christ to say anything about angelic bodies requiring wings to fly ... since He Himself is God Almighty.
Point being ... you should assimilate this Biblical data into your position.
“you should assimilate this Biblical data into your position.”
Indeed! It was there lurking in the background.
Seems to me that of God’s created beings that we know about, the Cheribim and Seriphim are wholly unique in themselves, and not at all associated with angels. I see no basis for calling them angelic beings as they are so incredibly unique.
Their uniqueness seems to be in their close and immediate relationship to God the Father and in their ministry to Him, their worshiping Him, their glorifying Him. Their ministry seems throne-based, throne-centered. Their characteristics and attributes are wholly unique as well.
Angels we know are “ministering spirits”, spiritual servants, some with order and authority like Michael and Gabriel. It seems clear their ministry is related to man.
Not so with thee Cheribim & Seriphim - whose ministry is God-ward.
So I think it is a stretch to consider the C & S as angels.........
