The Supreme Court has twice protected the Catholic nuns. Now their case is before the Court once again.
WASHINGTON, D.C., January 17, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) The Supreme Court will once again weigh in on the case of the Little Sisters of the Poor in their legal battle against the HHS contraceptive mandate. The Supreme Court has twice protected the Catholic nuns, and an HHS rule issued in 2018 protects religious non-profits, but several states have dragged the Little Sisters of the Poor back to court. In Little Sisters of the Poor v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Little Sisters are defending their hard-won religious exemption from a lawsuit by the Pennsylvania Attorney General and a recent Third Circuit ruling against them threatening their ministry of serving the elderly poor.
The HHS contraceptive mandate required the Little Sisters to provide services such as the week-after pill in their health care plans or pay millions of dollars in fines. In 2016, the Supreme Court unanimously overturned lower court rulings against the Little Sisters, granting them an exemption from the mandate, and in 2018, HHS announced a new rule protecting religious non-profits, including the Little Sisters. Yet several states, including Pennsylvania and California, immediately sued the federal government to take that protection away, forcing the Little Sisters back to court. After a loss in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the Sisters now turn to the High Court to finally put an end to their long legal journey.
It is disappointing to think that as we enter a new decade we must still defend our ministry in court, said Mother Loraine Marie Maguire of the Little Sisters of the Poor. We are grateful the Supreme Court has decided to weigh in, and hopeful that the Justices will reinforce their previous decision and allow......

Every American should be disgusted that the once respected Supreme Court of the United States even hears such a ridiculous case that should have been thrown out at the district level.
May the fear of the Lord God drive those who would seek to cause harm and danger to themselves fall upon their own swords and traps. Amen.
This was a decision by the Third Circus Court of Appeals last July that went directly to the Supremes.
The 3-”judge” panel of the Third Circus was two Rapin Bill “judges” and a Clownbammy “judge” - unanimous, of course.
Theodore McKee - appointed by Rapin Bill Clinton.
Patty Shwartz - appointed by Jugears ClownBammy.
Julio Fuentes - appointed by Rapin Bill Clinton.
I guess the nuns they ruled against were lucky that these three didn’t sacrifice a live baby in a pentagram drawn on the floor of the courtroom to celebrate their dark victory...
Looks like Pennsylvania and California are trying to bankrupt Little Sisters of the Poor through constant costly litigation to force them into compliance in order to kill more babies. Our justice system should not work this way. The left is pure evil.
Considering how nearly half of all babies aborted are black I am not sure that "dark victory" is a good term. But then again, Planned Parenthood knows who they want to kill and is aiming for them.
We the right loses a court case, we accept it...
When the left loses a court case, they keep up their attack ....
We need to stop accepting their verdicts upon us and start fighting back.
If the Supreme Court had any sense of right and wrong, they would Hold the AG of each of these States in Contempt and JAIL THEM for 180 Days.
You are so right. We have to stop taking this whack-a-mole BS.
Nothing is ever settled until it is settled the way the leftists want it settled. It is a continuous battle, with only one other possible solution prior to the Second Coming, and no, government trollers, I am not suggesting it.
There is a certain level of hell for liberal bullies who continually drag nuns to court for not wanting to pay for abortion and birth control.
The abortion-lovers sure hate the good sisters.
Judges whose rulings on things constitutional are overturned by the Supreme Court, should be impeached and removed for incompetence.
“the week-after pill in their health care plans or pay millions of dollars in fines...”
Either pay for services that you don’t want or get fined. That is not a good way to do business. Life is not a zero sum game where one sides wins all and the other side wins nothing. Freedom and respect would allow the sister to pay for the services they want.
Yet most Catholic Pennsylvanians reflexively pull the lever for Democrats at election time.
Including AG Shapiro, the man who decided to file this suit.
