WEST WARWICK, Rhode Island - The pastor of a Rhode Island church issued a flier which said that every state legislator who voted last year to preserve the right to an abortion in state law would be denied communion.
Father Richard Bucci distributed the fliers last week at Sacred Heart Church in West Warwick, the Providence Journal reported on Saturday. He also mailed them to the homes of several lawmakers.
“In accord with the teaching of the Catholic Church for 2000 years, the following members of the legislature may NOT receive Holy Communion, as are all the officers of the state of Rhode Island, as well as Rhode Island’s members of Congress,” the flier reads.
The fliers also said legislators wouldn’t be allowed to act as witnesses to marriage, godparents or lectors at any church functions.
“If they are proud of what they have done, why do they want to keep it a secret?” Bucci told the Journal.

Isn't human life sacred? Isn't the Blessed Sacrament sacred? WHAT DOES "SACRED" EVEN MEAN? Disallowing sacrilegious communion is protecting the faithful from being led astray, protecting the Sacrament from profanation, and protecting the offender from yet another mortal sin.
If I remember scripture correctly the only unforgivable sin is to blaspheme (deny) the Holy Spirit
Repentance and forgiveness by the Blood and Stripes Christ suffered prior to his Crucifixion then the Resurrection pays for the cost of other sins. In scripture it says their is no remittance for since unless blood is shed. By being the perfect sacrificial Lamb he served that purpose and when we accept and receive him and his redemption we are washed clean

I believe this is generally taught to three year olds so it surely should be within the grasp of a baby killing demonrat.
I support him. Elevate him to bishop immediately if not sooner.
But, lacking sorrow and an intention to turn away from their sins, the public unrepentant abortion-enthusiasts should not play-act that they are reconciled to God and the Church, when they are not.
Either way I think they do preach against these sins against life. I know Bishop Tobin has a reputation for being outspoken up against abortion, and I have to assume that the sort of parish priest who woulds enforce Canon 915 would be the sort who has spoken up from the pulpit as well.
By the way, Canon 915 states:
"Those upon whom the penalty of excommunication or interdict has been imposed or declared, and others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are forbidden by law from receiving Holy Communion."
This actually indicates that the penalty is not one which is optionally imposed by pastor or bishop, bu one which is objectively required by law.
Bless Bishop Tobin, but he ought not to merely say that he backs up the pastor's discretion. He ought to say this is the practice Diocese-wide, with no priest permitted to opt out of his sacred duty to enforce it.
Good. This needed to be happening to all abortion-loving politicians a LOOOOOOOONG time ago.
