With the hierarchy in place in the Catholic Church, it is near impossible for a parish priest, let alone lay people to change things.

Pope John Paul II was pope from 1978 to 2005 and Benedict XVI was pope from 2005 until 2013, a period of nearly 35 years. Since cardinals cannot vote in a papal election after they turn 80, all or nearly all of the cardinals who chose Francis in 2013 were chosen either by JPII or by Benedict XVI. The next conclave will have those who picked Francis if they are still alive and under 80, plus cardinals he chose. So I am not optimistic about the kind of person the next conclave will elect.
I’ve seen a lot of troubling things in my life, but the picture of the so-called Pope kissing the Jihadi - that’s the worst ever. I just can’t shake it.
Muslims can eat a big meal in the evening after sunset during Ramadan if they wish. So in the spirit of Ramadan, I had a pork sandwich for lunch today. It wasn’t after sunset local time but I’m sure it must have been after sunset Mecca time.

Just like in a corporate takeover, the small shareholders (i.e., the Church members and priest) have an interest in the Church (particularly at the parish level), but they don't have any power.
