PROFITING FROM PROVERBS - 5/24/2020

“Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer” (Provers 24:26).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer” (Provers 24:26).

Excellent speech, appropriate answers, and words of truth are wonderful things. Good men perceive and respect such wise use of language. They will love the man who answers matters well with noble lips. Here is a goal for prudent men – excellent speech.

A right answer. A right answer when it comes to proper judgment, about calling a wicked man wicked and righteous man righteous. “Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.”

Some folks, you just feel like they are worth kissing. You just feel like kissing them because they tell the truth. Don't you really just rejoice sometimes when some of these senators and some of these congressmen finally come out and tell it like it is? I mean, they don't beat around the bush, and they say, “Well this is the problem, the problem isn't the deficit spending, the problem is that just wasted too much money on this and that,” and they tell the truth! Don’t you just want to kiss the guy. “Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth the right answer.”

Now the problem with our society is we've connected men kissing men so much with a freak, and a queer, that you just can't do it, but the Bible says, “Greet the brethren with a holy kiss.” Well, you better not do it in America. You can do it in the Orient. In the Orient it isn’t understood that way, in America it is understood that way and you are seen as weird. You kiss a man in America, and you are going to get punched. So, I wouldn’t recommend it.

“Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him” (Psalms 2:12).

David said, “Kiss the Son.” You see, the Son is a Man that calls a thing the way it is. He doesn't say to the wicked, “You are righteous.” That’s what so good about the Lord. He tells it like it is, He calls the shots like they are. We can appreciate that.

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.
