I don’t know how many present day Catholics have experienced world travel and Mass in a foreign language. I write as an English speaking individual. As a kid when we visited my mothers family in Canada we went to the “French” Catholic Church. Had no idea what the sermon was about but fully understood the Mass in Latin. As an adult I have attended Mass in Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Spanish and English. Let me say that the Latin Mass gave or should I say gives, a true uniformity to the Universal Church that the “Local Language Pantomime Dance Mass” lacks!!!
Sad to think that at least two generations of Catholics have never experienced the beauty and splendor of the Latin mass and have had nothing but hootenanny liturgies with thumping guitars, rattling tambourines and banging drums.
God bless him. More of this on the bishops’ bench please.
