What was it Shakespeare wrote?
The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
Fortunately, Dallas Jenkins doesn't have to do that.
Someone else has already "died on a hill" for us all (Christians, Jews, Buddhists, even Mormons).
Perhaps, the least we can do as Christians is invite all to come unto Him, regardless of their present circumstances.
If they choose to reject Him, that is on them. Nonetheless, I don't think Christ would write people off so easily. The thief on the cross next to him accepted Jesus in his final moments.
Who's to say that other "non-Christians" won't at some point "see the light" and join us?--actually that should be "join Him."
The Mormon church founder, Joseph Smith, Jr., was fond of the occult, divining and fortune telling with “peep stones.” The basis of Mormonism was a historic record of Christ’s time after his resurrection in South America. This record was given on golden plates found by Smith 1400 years later. Who really wrote this account? Where are those original plates? No one knows.
But Smith’s lifestyle revealed him to be a man who did what he wants, picking up 27 wives as he went along. His character led him to be arrested and while in jail, an angry mob crashed into Smith’s jail cell where he and his brother, Hyrum, were murdered.
Smith’s martyrdom elevated him among his followers. However that did not stop a split in the congregation. Even though both groups were true to the Book of Mormon, one group rejected the secret rites, the plurality of gods, and sealed marriages. It was this group, led by Brigham Young, who followed him to Salt Lake Valley, Utah with his 25 wives. It was Young who said, “The only men who became gods are those who enter into polygamy.” The beliefs of the Young cult were bizarre and had no semblance to the Christian Bible. It was in keeping with Joseph Smith, Jr., to do whatever you want and call it following what you can make up as God’s word.
Mormonism is a cult.
Religion is the glue that holds people together for Generations. Nation's like the Soviet Union and Communist China are doomed to collapse without some kind of spirituality. America itself is fading because the faith it once had is fading as well. We handed our Children over to the State to be educated and are now shocked it's turning them into little statists. Biggest mistake Americans have ever made.
We lived near Painsville and went to the big Mormon church there in cub scouts for a tour.
Was a neat building. They said they got the design from the golden plates Smith got from God. Being a stupid kid, I asked them what they did with the plates. Tour guide really didn’t have an answer.
Even then I was thinking, “If you got a bunch of golden plates from God, wouldn’t you hold onto them?”
Jesus commanded that we remember Him. That’s what communion is all about.
He died claiming to be equal with God Himself. If He was not God, He deserved a death on the cross for blasphemy.
Pretty important stuff. The mormons got the important stuff wrong.
there are false Christs
their story of Christ is not the biblical Christ
If you know your Bible well, you are in no danger of believing false things - just enjoy the "show".
People believe all kinds of things, and that is on them.
I know what I believe is true - doesn't matter what Dallas Jenkins thinks.
Nehemiah asked for, and got help from (pagan) King Artaxerxes of Persia to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
Just sayin' - God does work in mysterious ways His wonders to perform.
EVL!!! Evangalist Lives Matter!!!
If in your opinion only EVL matter to God ... than maybe you should add an ‘I’ between the V and the L.
I personally refuse to Hi-Jack God’s Judgement about who is acceptable to him or not. I think in doing so ... you encourage God’s wrath.
Mathew 7: (1) Judge not, that ye be not judged. (2)2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. (3) And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? .... (5) Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
“Romans 10:13
For every one who calls on the name of Christ WILL be saved!
Im not a Mormon but it seem pretty clear to me, I could not find an except for? anywhere.
Stand Tall
Brad”
I understand context and I think Romans 10:13 was just taken out of context.
It’s a very common occurance.
Thanks for your insights. Great example.
Come to think of it, King Solomon got help from the pagan king Hiram of Tyre in building the temple at Jerusalem.
If that isn't "sacrilege," what is?
Do your homework, but I say, just watch it and you will see that “everyone has an opinion thing” in true fashion here.
I like the series and they are very honest about it all not being biblical, I’m okay with that because we don’t know it all. What I like is how they make all the characters “human”. After all, Jesus was human.
John 7.24: Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
And God used Cyrus the pagan
The Lord uses “outside” people to accomplish His will
This sounds like something a Pharisee would say. Complaining about Jesus associating with “unclean” people
When I stayed at an AirBNB run by a guy who played football at BYU, his Wifi was named Kolob
The Chosen has relocated to Texas.
My God is better than your god ping.
