In her time at the Temple, she is believed to have taken a vow of perpetual virginity.

This fits Catholic narrative but Scripture and Verse?

Still worth sharing...

For the confirmation bias alone.

“We don’t know much of Mary’s early life from the Bible.”

Why don’t you just make up something?

To me, one of the great mysteries of the bible where there stopped being any mention of Joseph. Did he die before Jesus was crucified?

Don't have to. As noted in the article, stories of Mary's life come from second century writings in the Protoevangelium of James, other saints and theologians, and private visions. I don't have to make anything up myself. I'll share what the Church has heard from the beginning.

What I wrote above is consistent with him being significantly older than Mary. You don't hear anything of him after Jesus's childhood. You hear of Mary, though. It would seem he passed on at some point.

You do understand that there are many teachings of the Apostles and saints down through the ages that aren't contained in the Bible, right? Do we pretend they didn't say anything worth hearing?

The Bible is the story of our fall and redemption. There are life stories and other traditions carried down by the Church that don't bear directly on that particular story but are helpful for building up our faith.

1 Timothy 1:4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.
.2 Timothy 3:16 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

There is no need to add to what we know to be sure.

1. The two of the Gospels give us genealogies.
2. Yes, all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching... but it isn’t the ONLY source of teaching. Scripture points to the Church as the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim 3:15).

Question... when your pastor teaches on Sunday, does he only quote the Bible or does he relate it to the world today and to living according to the will of God? If he doesn’t only quote the Bible, how are the rest of his words relevant?

#1 I don't go to Church on Sunday. I keep the Sabbath. You remember the Sabbath, don't you? Ex. 20:8-11. The one God used to commemorate Creation. The one Moses kept. The one Jesus kept. The one he said pray that your flight be not on the Sabbath 70 years after His death.
#2 By using parables or using examples to illustrate using Gods Word to everyday living is a whole lot different from spouting things about a Biblical figure that are extra-Scriptural. There's no need in it. Nothing to be gained.

So you just depended on what others made up instead.

The Protoevangelium of James is totally fabricated and not even well written.

Did he die before Jesus was crucified?

Major theologians believe he died well before the Crucifixion. Conjecture (and that's all it is) is that Joseph died while Jesus was a late teenager. This would've put an additional burden on Jesus. Looking at Job, Satan wants to kill close members to inflict pain and doubt and Jesus was under constant attacks on Jesus. Joseph was a support member of the family and Satan wanted him eliminated. Jesus persevered in spite of all of these things Satan threw at Him.

Not entirely. Pastors from the beginning have explained the Scripture proclaimed during services. They usually do this by explaining the customs of the day to understand the context of Scripture for a people far removed. Those who were closest to being contemporaries of their day passed down their knowledge so there is much we can learn from them today to understand Scripture in context.

Carry on.

That's not the problem. This statement is the problem "In her time at the Temple, she is believed to have taken a vow of perpetual virginity. " That is unsupported by Scripture and common practice. "Go forth and be fruitful" was the thinking of their time. It was considered a bad omen or bad luck for women who could not conceive or have children. Children were considered a blessing.
