What about those verses in Romans about obeying the government?

For one thing, cutting off one’s hands in the case of stealing is a Muslim thing, NOT a Christian or even a Jewish thing.

The Ugandan law doesn’t match exactly with the OT or Torah law. In the Torah ALL homosexual sins are worthy of death. So is beastiality and incest. Our ‘modern’ punishments are supposedly ‘better’ and more ‘humane’. I don’t think Adonai would agree.

Personally, I don’t think it’s possible to impose the Torah law concerning deviant behavior on today’s American society, tempting as it might be.

My point is they are not giving the death penalty for being gay as the media and opponents are trying to say.

Yes, I was joking. However, 3rd world countries don't have the luxury of allowing criminal activity to run amok or the ability to lock up a large percentage of the population for extended periods of time. The use of corporal punishment and the death penalty is commonplace more out of necessity than because of religious affiliation.

Uganda is primarily a Christian country, but a sizable percentage of the population do follow Islam including their most famous despot, Idi Amin who “converted” after he was exiled, although like Obama his father was a follower of Islam and he went to an Islamic school. Amin’s disregard for the value of human life would make most question whether Christianity ever had much importance to him.
