What a DUMBASS! TYPICAL DEMOCRAT PRIEST!
Of course not, you flock of Pilates.
The office of 83-year-old auxiliary bishop emeritus Gerald Wilkerson sent the memo distancing the diocese from the upcoming prayer rally, whose purpose is to make reparation for the baseball team honoring the nun-mocking drag troupe, to “priests and deacons of the San Fernando pastoral region” on June 9.
Repent is what the prophets, John the Baptist, the disciples, the Apostles and JESUS preached.
When was the last time we heard Repentance preached?
This looks like a territorial issue. The groups coming in are lay Catholic groups not under the direction of the Archbishop of LA or Auxiliary Bishops in LA.
So these lay groups are not canonically speaking under the Archbishop of LA, so that is the context.
The USCCB, all the US Catholic Bishops, just voted for all Catholics on 16 June to pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Catholic News Agency reported that last night. I think that is what the Church is asking Catholics do to.
Protest, on the other hand, could potentially get testy or violent out in LA as we have seen recently at a local school board where Armenian-Americans who are a large part of a school district showed up to protest the LGBTQ..... curriculum and it resulted in a riot with the LGBTQ/Antifa leftist.
Is that Lindsay GAYham?
Soooo....the “bishop” is a Groomer...or groomer supporter. Got it.
Appeasement will work here just as well as everywhere else it’s tried.
1. Wilkerson is only an "interim vicar." Questionable authority to speak on behalf of the archdiocese.
2. Wilkerson is retired ("emeritus").
3. Wilkerson was only ever an auxiliary bishop.
4. The memo is from his "office."
I smell an activist somewhere in his typing pool.
Read SF Abp Cordileone’s recent WSJ editorial addressing (in part) the Dodgers anti-Catholic stance. Courage.
That’s what it sounds like to me too, though without seeing the entire internal memo in context (but only the snippet in the article), it’s hard to say. It may be in reply to enquires about whether the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is officially sponsoring these protests. More info beyond the snippet is needed.
Bingo.
Has Gomez been silenced?
Boner by the Archbishop.
Gutless.
My opinion is that Archbishop Gomez is concerned about the protest getting violent on Friday...
I do not think that he wants his organization to be linked to some violent protestors...
Office of Archbishop already released a statement criticizing Dodgers many weeks ago...I am guessing that Archbishop Gomez did not want to do more than that...
Correct, there are too many internet Popes or groups of internet Catholic getting together and acting like an Ecumenical Council.
When I read about the Archdiocese saying that are not sponsoring these protests, I can understand. If violence breaks out, the Church does not want to be seen by secular media as promoting violence, insurrection, type stuff.
The USCCB vote (all US Catholic Bishops) calling for all US Catholics to pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is the most theologically orthodox way to handle this and the most prudent civilly.
Do not get into the realm of Caesar here, stay in the realm of God and pray. I think the USCCB got this one 100% correct, and I sometimes in the past have thought they missed the mark on their pastoral directives.
Prayer is the right call and the fact that they chose the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to make reparations on 16 June, that is a great prayer they picked.
