a hook up environment for horny teenagers.

For example, the third picture in your previous post.

At least they're "straight".

“One of the major advantages of Scouting was that it WAS hard. If you were going to go for a hiking merit badge, you had to DO something, like hike a 5 mile, 10 mile, and 20 mile hike (IIRC)”

The Eagle Scout did a 3 mile hike plan for a hike in the neighborhood, but he didn’t have to actually perform the hike. I kid you not. He just had to show that he would solicit people to participate, make it a charitable donation hike, but he never had to find the people, solicit the donations, or even go on the hike. This was in Colorado where trails and hiking is abundant. Just a simple plan for a simple hike in a suburb.

I only did Cub Scouts through Wolf pack, and I never had any friends that did Eagle Scout or any Scouting at all, but we did do everything boys do, from camping to fishing to hiking.

“I am in no way anti-woman in this respect, but I believe it is important for young boys to be in an environment that girls are not part of.”

Yes, it is, and it is important that girls do the same for themselves, hence the Girl Scouts.

I like the Trail Life rules. Protecting children must always come first.

I am a Young Eagle volunteer pilot where we take kids flying after they attend a ground school about flying. The organization requires specific child protection background checks and weeds out people with questionable backgrounds.

I also volunteered for Boy Scout rifle range day, where the Scouts shoot 22 caliber rifles. They stopped doing those shooting days, but they never required background checks for access to the children. So, I did a background check on one guy I suspected of being a creep, and, sure enough, he was a creep. A registered sex offender for molesting children. The Scouts said he was fine to be there and he’ll simply be watched. As the range officer for the day I dismissed him from attending.

Back in the day, Boy Scouts were courteous, resourceful, and all boy.

I am an ex Scout leader. The timing is really suspect. Scouting USA (their new name) just came out of Bankruptcy having sold off a bunch of property to settle the class action lawsuit on this. I quit scouts because they added a woke citizenship merit badge as the 13th eagle required. This was a 20 year ride that I finally had to get off. I also am not sure they have really learned the lesson. A friend was sexually harassed by an older male adult while she was volunteering at a scout reserve. She was treated as the bad apple for making the accusations!

I have to agree on that. Unfortunately.

When I was a scout, I was attending an Order of the Arrow weekend at scout camp. A guy from another troop persistently insisted that I service him manually. I refused. He made the mistake of doing this in the presence of three friends from my troop. One of these guys was a particular loudmouth, and called the guy “jack” whenever we saw him.

Well I know nothing about this jamboree, but given there are girls in the pictures I am going to have to assume that the jamoree was for the boy scouts and their female troops as well (don’t know what they are called they started them after I was out.). So you may be looking at the tents for the girls in that pic.

And given the tents are all uniform, I would suspect the tents may have been provided by a sponsor of some sort.

Has any of this happened in the Girl Scouts?

Growing up in the 1930-40s. my mother who was a newpaper reporter, wouldn't let my brother or me join the scouts. I took long walks, often with my father (Mein Vater war ein Wandersmann), or alone with my treasured Iver Johnson 410 through woodlands and abandoned farms.

I have watched the devolution of BSA for decades.

The precipitating act that started the down fall of the Scouts was joining The United Way.

The United Way is one of the most corrupt Leftist organizations in the world.

First the UW forced the BSA to accept women as Scout Leaders then it forced them to accept homosexual men as Scout Leaders.

The final straw was it forced the BSA to accept girls and transsexuals as scouts.

Once the BSA was beholden to the UW for fundraising there was it was over for the BSA. They were never going to hold on to the ideals that they held dear.

The BSA is now antithetical to the original goals of the organization.

It is no longer working to build boys in to strong morally upright men. It is now a socialist indoctrination organization.

The Hitler Youth was better at molding boys in to good men.

I once made annual contributions to the BSA through the UW. But then I found out that my contributions made no difference to the bottom line of the BSA. My directed contribution simply put me on a list of BSA contributors. The UW has total control of the BSA budget. Any contribution directly to the BSA has to be reported to the UW by the BSA and results in less money to the BSA from UW.

I stopped contributing to the UW in the early 1990s. It is a Communist organization.

I understand completely, especially about the United Way.

When I was in the Navy back in the mid-late Seventies, were were forced to make contributions to the United Way, directly deducted from our already somewhat meager paycheck.

I didn’t know I could just say no...I assume now I could have, but back then, it was a big push and I felt it was mandatory.
