Thank you, Dan, for the gorgeous stained glass windows to lift my soul..
#1 wonderful sculpture from the Saint-Lazare Cathedral in Autun, France, by Master Gislebertus. He is considered one of the greatest sculptors of the Middle Ages. This image is so touching.
#2 Tissot, unique! He depicts the topography of the region so well. This painting was made after his second trip to the Middle East.
#9/10 Gentile da Fabriano, so rich in details.
This is beautiful.
Such a unique conception! It makes me laugh.
As Tissot's makes me glad, that he can transport me there to watch that remarkable caravan pass by. Must be at least the sixth time I've posted it....
Beauty is important to you, so I’m happy to be able to present some to you.
One of Tissot’s very best (#2)
Yep—can’t get enough of it.
the three magi as a surprising salvation
I heartily agree!
I think they started out pagan, but then were CHOSEN.
the magi in #14 win the thread
they are most humbled before the Son of God
Two lovely posts, K. I agree entirely.
It just seems to me that (a) God selected three who would respond and (b) when they finally arrived, belief was both irresistible and inevitable.
What unspeakable joy they surely experienced, realizing that they of all people must, like Elizabeth, be astonished at being included.
