Why are these dioceses bowing to extortion? I guess because I'm in one of the few with an endowment, the principle collected years ago, I have little sympathy for the ones that are going to bankrupt themselves in a CYA move.

I'm getting really tired of everything coming down to money. Nothing can compensate for the pain.

It wouldn't be coming down to money if the bishops had treated victims like wronged human beings and offered to help them instead of calling them liars and sicking trial lawyers on them in an effort to shut them up.

Or, worse, lying to them about taking the offending priests out of parishes and, instead, transferring them to prey on other victims.

You may as well prepare yourself, because this is going to get a lot worse.

I think you are correct. I read something about a RICO suit out in LA. All in all, I would be grateful for an impoverished Church at this point as those who aren't duplicitous in the clergy will stay. One of the best Masses I ever went to was in Church with a dirt floor.

Ever deepening in your dedicated anti-Catholic bigotry, as is plain to see. There is no anti-Catholic bigot like an ex-Catholic who couldn't make the grade and who becomes such a bigot. Someday, perhaps, we will hear your actual agenda which is suggested by your impertinent last sentence.

That is Pope John Paul II to you, counselor, and to history to which he has made far greater contributions on his least efficient day than will ever be made in a lifetime by his petty critic from the bowels of the Louisville court system.

Mr. Wojtlywa was his father, Dr. Wojtlywa was his brother. Both are long dead. This pope hasn't been properly known as Mr. Wojtlywa since his ordination 56 years ago. You can also keep a civil tongue in your head. I have yet to see one insulting remark directed on Free Republic by any Catholic toward the leaders of what you claim to be your new religion. Nor one by Eastern Orthodox posters directed at Catholic leaders.

JPII has no obligation to publicly entertain the likes of you. He will run the Church as he sees fit without the advice of hostile buttinskies like you, thank you very much. Whether that meets the guidelines imposed by your ignorance is of no consequence whatsoever.

You did not have the backbone to live in the Faith of your ancestors and you obviously resent those who do. At least you did have the integrity to leave unlike many. Jealousy will get you nowhere. Go drown in Margaritas or at least soak your head.

Sinkspur and a few others may encourage you with Kumbayas and warm touchy-feelies over the way poor OPH has had his feelings abused by those nasty doctrinaire Catholic meanies. You are not likely to experience that treatment from anyone with the truth of the Faith. AmChurch is not Catholicism.

In your lawyer's rationale, being abused by enemies of the Faith becomes your excuse for becoming an enemy of the Faith.

Of course, you also persist in the delusion that your opinion counts. I will be back later after Mass and visiting. Rave on. Your every post stirs the resolve of those you despise.

Was the first sentence of your post meant to be its title?

His disrespect says more about him and Orthodoxy than the 82-year-old Bishop of Rome.

Interesting, in a disgusting way, isn’t it? The non Catholic Christians and the schismatic Catholics have the common courtesy to show “some” respect for this man of God, but the Orthodox wing nuts who post here are unable to contain their visceral hatred for the man. You are not born to hate; it must be taught. And, it’s usually taught by example.
