I didn't follow the California Gubernatorial election very much; however, I would like to point out how religious, devout and philanthropic this family really is. It shouldn't go unnoticed.

From the Philanthropy simon.html

Friends and acquaintances know that Simon’s philanthropy coexists with a business-bred insistence on results. "We work terribly hard at the Olin Foundation. I like to get things done," he says, in what staff and grantees probably view as something of an understatement.

A chip off the old block... A lot will say different but I think we missed a chance at a real gem in Bill Simon Jr. as Governor.

Great philanthropists; outstanding Catholics.

Dumb-ass politicians.

He's an amateur politician. Simon should have cut his teeth on another race, learned the ropes, THEN run for governor.

He said, and did, a lot of stupid, not-ready-for-prime-time stuff.

He'll win next time :)

He's got name recognition now...that's good. Let Davis turn this place into a shithole.

People will change from D to R in the gubanatorial election...

The Heritage Foundation has elected William E. Simon Jr. to the board of trustees. Simon is the executive director of William E. Simon & Sons, a Morristown, New Jersey private investment firm, and before that worked under then-U.S. attorney for New York Rudolph Guiliani as assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. Simon also serves as vice chairman of Paxson Communications, chairman of GeoLogistics Corporation, and vice chairman of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

I don't think we have to worry. He will be back!

Don't forget that both went to Newark Academy High School in Livingston, New Jersey.

Yes, it's too bad that Ronald Reagan started his politcal career by running for governor, instead of learning the ropes by running for a lesser office. Reagan had the potential for a really exceptional career in politics.

...Dumb-ass politicians.

Don't you mean "dumb-ass voters?"

Why does everyone constantly blame the politician for the loss? The voters (and rate payers) know all about Grey Davis's incompetence and corruption. They made their choice and now all Californians have to live with it. Note this: Costs hit home for energy crisis .

Let's put the blame where it really belongs -- the stupid, selfish voter who thinks that the Democrats will provide a fine lifestyle for free.

Reagan did start his career with a lesser office -- President of the Screen Actors' Guild. He rose to statewide and national attention by campaigning for Barry Goldwater.

Oh? They did. A secular school, I wonder where they received their religious education?

God had other plans for Mr. Simon or he would be governor now.

We did. Simon may not have been the best campaigner in the country, but he would have been an OUTSTANDING governor. Hopefully, he won't give up on our state, or other good men and women won't be discouraged by how he was treated by friends and foes alike.

Thanks for the websites. Forwarded them to relatives living in Los Angeles. Hope for Bill Simon. He could get CA out of its budget mire. He's a better alternative and more qualified than that RINO social democrat Arnauld with his Kennedy RAT wife.
