It's simply a matter of perspective.

From God's perspective ... it's pretty awesome.
Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

War is awful and horrendous, tho sometimes necessary...and if many are drawn to the Lord, in this horrendous and scarey time,

Sounds like someone paying for protection.

There's a difference between "taking this lightly" and saying it's "one of the most awesome results of the war."

It's just a pet-peeve of mine. I'm not much for hyperbole.

Your #43: OK..This is the second reference to the FR 5th Amendment, and I have no idea what people are talking about or what it refers to... I mean, I know what the 5th Amendment is, but the (FR 5th Amendment?)....

My guess -- Fifth amendment is: he (generic third-person "he") refuses to answer because it might incriminate him. FR Fifth amendment is: he won't say it plainly because the post might be deleted (or worse). Remarks about undesirable weather conditions seem to refer to the same thing. But he still wants to make broad hints about it, for some reason.

I think that whatever animosity "he" may harbor, he should just let it go.

As long as he/she knows Who's offering ...

I agree with you Illbay. Some dude getting baptized is not that big a deal. I'm guessing someone got overexcited because he thought his team was winning or something.

It's a big deal. It's just not "one of the most awesome RESULTS of the war."

While this is a personal high for this particular soldier, that statement that it is "one of the most awesome results of this war" is stretching a point a mite.

Could not disagree more heartily. Registered said it's one of the most awesome results of the war. He didn't say it was one of the war's objectives. What could be more awesome than one soldier making a public testimony and commitment of his life to Jesus Christ, and by such declaration, making it known to all the world, Arab and Jew, Christian and heathen, that he has now inherited eternal life, as he stands perhaps on the edge of death? I could go on for blocks!

Thanks, Registered.

Your #62: Sounds like someone paying for protection.

Except that no money is changing hands, and none of the people being baptized is thinking he has any sort of guarantee against being injured or killed. Quite the opposite.

Getting ready to go into battle has a way of getting one's attention and focusing one's mind on the possibility of being about to meet one's Maker, and what one should do to be prepared for that.

"Of course had the guy been converted to [FR 5TH], then it would have been "one of the most awesome results of this war.""

Actually, if the guy was ~d[FR 5th]d~ and being baptized, it would have been "one of the most awesome results of this war!"

I wish we could post it in the General Forum and ban the Religion forum people from mucking it up!

Yeah. More censorship. That's what we need.

You understand the problem here Hair is this: If any of us had responded to a certain poster above with a comment like "You don't think this is an awesome moment because you are a [FR 5th amendment]" we would be in danger of banishment.

I'd be happy not to see the threads mucked up as well.

Some of us are doing the clean up.

But that baptisism would take place in a special place where only the "worthy" could be.

You might also consider that this freedom may lead to increased liberties for the Christian minority in Iraq.

What would it take to liberate the Christian minority in U---?
