This is the one baptism which saved me and it did not involved water. Water baptism is a picture symbolizing the death, burial and resurrection of the believer to new life in Christ. Water baptism is a picture of Spirit Baptism as the Lord's Supper pictures our fellowship with Him.

Both baptism and the Lord's Supper are powerful pictures of the gospel, neither saved me or keeps me saved.

Where is the repentence in infant Baptism? Infant Baptism like baptism prior to being born again is on the wrong side of the cross.

Blessed, the Bible clearly states that whole families, including children were baptized. Infants are children. There is no stipulation anywhere in the Bible which states infants cannot be baptized. Your beliefs to the contrary are your choice, but they are not Biblical nor Traditional.

Where is the repentence? Their is no salvation in baptism.To say all who have been baptised are born again is closer to universalism than Christianity.Christ indicated their will be many who call his name but that he will not know. Probably some of them will say but I was baptised as an infant.My parents were Christians so I must be.

Note Jesus's emphasis on being born of the spirit.While there are several commonly accepted interpretations of what water refers to,none include baptism.The most common interpretation is "physical birth".This is consistent with verse 6 where he uses born of flesh instead of water.It is also important to remember he was talking to Nicodemus a Jew who was not familiar with baptism.

I have never read an example in the Bible of an infant being baptized. Do you know where this practice got started?

To answer the first question: The Bible doesn't necessarily directly speak of an infant baptism, but it clearly never speaks against infant baptism, and in fact, St. Paul endorses infant baptism.

In several instances, the Bible refers to whole households being baptized, including members of all ages. (For instance: Acts 16:15, Acts 16:33, 1 Cor 1:16)

Baptism takes the place of circumcision in the new covenant. (St. Paul talks about this: Col 2:11-12) Circumcision was, of course, for infants, and adult circucision was rare.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call. (Acts 2:38-39)

If infant baptism weren't the rule, there should be references to the children of Christian parents joining the Church only after they had come to the age of reason, and there aren't any such records in the Bible.
