The fact that he’s polling in the single digits doesn’t disabuse you of “attracting a lot of support” fallacy?
And have you actually seen and met and talked with some of his supporters? The “loonie wing” description is not that far off the mark.
And why is that pray tell? It is because inflation is set by increases in the quantity of money in circualation. When the rate of inflation is high that is because of what? a.) The Federal Reserve is expanding the money supply? or b.) The Federal Reserve is contracting the money supply.
That the Federal Reserve accommodated Nixon's Rhino guns and butter policies does not let Nixon off the hook, but inflationary it was none the less.
Actually, IMHO the loons are folks like you who call him names rather the focus on the substance of what he says.
Surrender to Islamofascism is not a conservative principle.
Let me ask you this. How do you see Ron Paul beating McCain or anyone else? Honestly. If we get McCain, it will be because at SOME point pragmatism didn’t enter the heads of people who don’t know when to quit and that they’re doing more harm than good protecting their idealism.
Latest Rasmussen
As Florida voters seek to decide between the two frontrunners, support for other candidates is fading. Rudy Giuliani is a distant third at 18%, Mike Huckabee 12%, some other candidate, 5%, and Ron Paul 2%
The man is the substance of what he says. That’s why he attracts the loons. And not just plain ol’ conservative loons. But the more venal, left-wing, fascist, white supremecist, tax-dodging, isolationist loons. Calling him names is just another mechanism by which to illuminate his character. Name calling for the sake of name calling is low-brow to be sure, but any extended reading of anti-Ron Paul posts clearly show that there is clear and well defined idea that fellow FReepers have regarding this man’s unbalanced nature. My particular ideas comes from his followers and their clearly expressed support for his positions. It’s not unlike meeting wild-eye leftist for Hillary (or Kerry, or Gore). I call those candidates and their supporters names too.
Lol. Are you serious?
You are correct about the Fed policies creating the inflationary problems Nixon tried to control, and believe me, I won’t let Nixon off the hook. Many of his policies were among the most liberal of presidents our nation ever had.
I think what they really want is a President who will define and attack enemies, so they can have a "Two Minutes Hate" and take out their collective frustrations on it. If that means using the power of government to overturn social developments and stop people they don't like, that's a plus. If that in turn means government needs to get bigger, well, that's OK, too - as long as the enemy gets crushed.
We've been coasting on Alexander Hamilton's well-designed framework for decades now, but the ride is coming to an end. There aren't enough truly educated citizens left to keep Constitutional government intact.
And if you’re not a Romney booster, same questions for any of the remaining candidates you might support.
What makes you think that Ron Paul supporters wouldn’t vote for McCain should RP decide to leave the race? It would seem to me the next logical choice with sitting out the primary as the third choice, but that’s just me.
Am I the only one to notice that along with the rise of Ron Paul Republicans, there has been a definite loss of Republican seats in Congress?
“There aren’t enough truly educated citizens left to keep Constitutional government intact.”
Evidenced by the last couple of FR polls. To think that a majority of the responders would just vote for Guiliani or McCain, after all we have been through with the threat of amnesty at our doorstep, just because they have an “R” behind their name, is appalling!
“there has been a definite loss of Republican seats in Congress?”
I would chalk that up to “Conservatives” fed up with Rinos.
Most Freepers are smart enough to realize that there is more to this election than just immigration. Your lack of faith in your fellow Republicans is noted.
You are right, there is a whole “lot more” at stake in this election, with the immigration issue just one example that some fellow Republicans are willing to throw out the window.
its time to take your fingers out of your ears
