Conley deserves chance to be heard on issues (SC Senate race)

A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from the campaign of a young man named Bob Conley. He is running for the U.S. Senate against incumbent Lindsey Graham.

I was very much impressed by his many conservative positions and his obvious dedication to our ailing Constitution, which has been under attack these last eight years. This fellow, I thought, must have the faith of a mustard seed to try to take on Lindsey Graham and his $3.5 million campaign war chest, contributed by Washington lobbyists and special interest groups.

If he is willing to do this, he at least deserves to be heard, and we deserve to be able to hear him.

Recently he debated Graham and did very well. It appears that Graham thinks he's got a lock on this election. I don't see one campaign sign along the road for Graham. As Bob Conley has very limited funds, he has to struggle around the state in his car to make public appearances and use his funds for road signs put up by enthusiastic volunteers. Many get stolen along the roadside.

Lindsey Graham-there’s one guy I wouldn’t mind us losing.

Bob Conley is a supporter of Ron Paul and previously supported Pat Buchanan’s candidacy. He supports limited government in a big way. South Carolina Libertarians are making this race a pet project, and his opponent (Lindsey Graham) is a big government, pro-amnesty type.

This is absurd. It doesn’t matter if Conley is as conservative as Newt Gingrich if he’s going to caucus with the Democrats and possibly give them a filibuster proof majority through which they could put Al Sharpton on Supreme Court if they wanted to.

Yeah, Lindsay sucks, but let’s just re-elect his sorry butt. McCain will put him in the cabinet and Sanford will appoint a real conservative. Everyone wins.

And I would add, if this Conley were so conservative-- why is he a Democrat?

He's so conservative that, in choosing parties he saw Reid, Pelosi, Schumer and thought "Ya...that's the place for me."

Really? Does that really sound believable? Is it not more likely that Conley's just saying all the right crap so he can get elected?

Just ask yourself, if Conley is soooo conservative:

Why does he support Barack Obama for President?
Why does he support Nancy Pelosi as Majority Leader?
Why does he support Harry Reid as Senate Leader?

Case closed.

Lindsey Graham should have made the VICHY REPUBLICAN list right from the start. Along w/my favorite Mel Martinez. I’m sure there are others.

Just my thoughts

I suppose I’d probably vote for him, if I were still in South Carolina as Graham voted for the Bailout, and this guy seems (don’t live there anymore so any South Carolinian feel free to correct me) genuinely conservative!? If so HE SHOULD BE SUPPORTED BY FREEPERS reguardless of party affiliation! (Dixi-crats aren’t dead yet,..I guess)

Bubba, I stay away from personal attack, but you must be smokin' the halyards. Bob Conley has received NO money from the Democratic party, and he owes them NOTHING. You would rather vote for a RINO (Republican in Name Only) than a DINO (Democrat in Name Only).

I am familiar with folks like that... They are the folks who fly Clemson, or Carolina flags, (rather than a political flag that might offend someone). They look at politics as a "team sport", and have no appreciation for the deep religious and philosophical differences that seperate the two parties.

Frankly, this "party unity" nonsense has done nothing but lead us closer to Marxist socialism. Vote Bob Conley, even though he is running as a Democrat.

Vote for your family. Vote for South Carolina. Vote for the South.

You are misinformed. He has never endorsed Barack Obama for President. You musyt be a Grahamnasty oprative to suggest that. He has not support Nancy Pelosi as Majority leader. As a matter of fact, like Sarah Palin he has taken on his own party for their own corruption. He attacked Carol Fowler for her attacks on Sarah Palin, where she said that "Governor Palin's only qualification was that she had not had an abortion." He does not endorsed Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader.

You are obviously an operative of the Graham-Ted Kennady cartel, trying to prevent SC from electing a real Conservative.

Again I ask you, if he's so conservative, if he's so anti-Obama, anti-Pelosi, anti-Reid...

WHY IS HE A DEMOCRAT?

I'm no fan of Grahamnasty. Don't vote for him. Vote for an Independent. Vote for a Libertarian. I don't care.

But with regard to Conley, just ask yourself:

If Conley were so conservative-- why is he in a party led by Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Frank, and Schumer?

Yep but he'll say anything. He'll say he's conservative on this and conservative on that-- but why would you believe him?

If he was so conservative would he be in a party led by Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and Schumer?

If he had the conservative beliefs he claims to have-- then why is he a Democrat? Why isn't he a Republican, or a Libertarian, or an Independent?

Answer: he's lying to get elected.

Because nobody who believes in small government, right to life, low taxes, strong national security, gun rights-- would ever be a member of today's Democratic party. And I believe you already know this, but are blinded by hatred of Grahamnesty-- which I empathize with completely.

It is my understanding that he was a Republican and held office as such in another state. His reason for switching parties was due to his belief that he could not not defeat Graham in a primary, but could defeat him in in a general election. Not sure of the logic behind that, but that's what I heard. Anyway, if he is only doing this to defeat Graham, then maybe he will switch parties once elected.

I still haven't decided whether I will support him or not. I have, however, vowed not to support Graham.

We have already cast out vote for Conley. If he is fortunate to win we must remind him daily about the Liberal Democrats and that he must take a stand. He could always switch parties and do a good job since the Democrats are not supporting him here.

Thank you for bring some common sense to this arguement that I have been having on the SC local board. I am not voting for Graham but the heck will I vote for a man that will give the Dems 60 senators. l8pilot has yet to give me an answer on Conley’s intent if he is elected on his caucus affilation, just blindly vote for him because he is not Graham is foolish.

Bob Conley is a life member of the NRA, and Gun Owners of America (which gave him an A rating), and GrassRoots, SC, which is the most active pro 2A group in SC. He is solidly Pro-life, anti-bailout, and is a member of the Federalist Society, (which studies the true intent of the Constitution). He is the ONLY person running for office that carries the Constitution with him, and asks, "What gives Government the right to....."

Frankly, I am tired of politicians. I am tired of lawyer-professionals deciding what the law should be. I want a citizen to represtent us. I want someone to ask, "what gives government the right to....."

Choose now. Send a politician back to Washingon, or send one of us to start a new "American REVOLution". Maybe I should type, R(LOVE)Chose freedom...Choose Bob Conley
