It's funny how many posters in this very thread complain about how leftists use emotions rather than logic when they are doing the very same damn thing.

I share your disgust. It is the same close-minded group of people every time on every RP thread, never saying anything constructive, never using logic, just a visceral knee-jerk hatred. I don''t know why, I only wish they wouldn't click on RP threads. They remind me of little kids starved for attention. They are the most classless group on FR and I wish they would start their own thread. Then maybe they would be so busy holding hands and singing 'Kumbaya' that they wouldn't have time to track down every RP thread and pee on it.

Don't waster your time. These people thinks it's the taxpayers job to "export" democracy. It's easy to be gung-ho while sitting behind a keyboard.

The Romans wanted to make the whole world Rome. That worked out real well for them.

You’re correct, of course, but there are lurkers who might be inveigled into learning something from this exchange. That’s my hope and my only reason for engaging Paul-bashers like him.

Paul makes bogeymen of many of the very people and institutions who made possible the Reagan Revolution and the fall of the soviet empire. Wonder if Paul wet his panties over the Gulf of Sidra incident, and the subsequent bombing of Kaddafy’s compound, the Grenada invasion, or the 1980’s defense buildup in general?

I don't know, but those are valid points.

I wouldn't be so sure to claim the fall of the soviet empire. We currently have one unfolding before ours eyes and we are part of it. How in the hell did we win the cold war if the f**king communists infiltrated print/television media, education, entertainment, and all levels of government?

Feh, that’s the way it is. The GOP serves the same One World Statist Elite that the Democratic Party serves. But it thumps the right Bible, won’t le the fags get married, and hates the working man, so it gets a pass from the people who live and die by that stuff.

We need Ron Paul in the new Conservative Party—we need him to use his power of reason to set up a new center in the body politic. The GOP is dead. We need a new 2rd party.

Of course.

Especially now that we are too broke for war.

Also: It’s not really the war phase that is so objectionable, we can sack the capitals in days or weeks, it is the never ending nation building where quite often there was little of a nation there to start.

I've read what Paul has to say. The bad stuff far outweighs the good stuff. Ronpaul is naive with a dangerous foreign policy agenda that is straight out of the liberal Democrat playbook. No thanks.

At some point, conservatives, hopefully, will recognize that even under Republican leadership, our foreign policy is directed by tax and spend, big government, world government liberals at the State Department, and like every other big government program, is failing miserably. And like debate with liberals on any other issue, they use words like, “isolationist” to discourage reasonable discussion.

If the Ron Paul-ites would have prevailed in the 1940’s, we would have had to fight whoever won between Hitler and Stalin on our doorsteps - rather than over there. Not to mention Japan.

You mean, rather than subsidize Stalin with Lend-Lease programs? You see the dots, maybe one day you will connect them.

My suspicion is that non-interventionism is going to enjoy a rebirth among conservatives. As memories of 9/11 fade...

Try reading The Forsaken: An American Tragedy in Stalin's Russia by Tim Tzouliadis.

United States citizens whose passports had been seized by the Soviet government were sent to Siberian gulags, where they languished and often perished...while their Soviet guards enjoyed American canned goods sent to Stalin under Lend-Lease and other "foreign aid" programs. Never mind that may of these United States citizens were ignored by the U.S. Embassy in Moscow and other U.S. authorities.

I’m not aware of what it is that you’re referring to, and again, I don’t hold with his foreign policy, but he’s a provocative representative, that generates thought and discussion about adherence to the Constitution, and I think that’s a welcome thing.

I sure haven't forgotten who was responsible have you?

It was not Iraqi or Afgan terrorists financed by Kabul, it was Saudi Nationals who flew those planes into those buildings...financed by the wealthy son of a Saudi citizen high in the Saudi government...and one who still has business associates high in government in this country.

So we hanged the President of Iraq and kissed the butt of the King of Saudi Arabia. The irony and hypocrisy is not lost on the American Public.

Lol.

It should read, is the GOP good for America?

We know what the Dems want and their endgame, but what about the GOP?

Open borders, supporting the UN, bailouts, TARP, home ownership, socialized medicine[prescription drug care], weak dollar, supporting the Federal Reserve, Billions for Aids for Africa, hundreds of millions to the Palestinian Authority, Non-Federalism, No child left behind, Nanny State, etc.

I'd rather support someone like Dr. Paul than a fabian movement like the GOP.
