Words have meaning and therein resides their power. If we begin mislabeling ideologies we shall soon lose sight of the actual forces buffeting the body politic.
The best term for the World War II era Germans still seems to be "fascist." But all of these political ideals in their various forms -- communism, socialism, and fascism -- need to be brutally crushed.
I disagree, communism and life on an Israeli Kibbutz are differentiated mainly by the presence of an overriding religious philosophy. Socialism works well when practiced in a homogeneous culture with little immigration pressure. On the other hand pure democracy rapidly leads to oppression. In my opinion communism, socialism, and fascism are related only in so much as they are all emblematic of a 'cult of personality' where an iron fisted dictator exercises power through a massive bureaucracy. Such systems are not overly stable and tend to disintegrate over time as corruption eats away at the structure.
