Tom Davis To Endorse Ron Paul (South Carolina Senator)
FITSNews ^ | 1/15/12 | staff

S.C. Sen. Tom Davis – the leading fiscal conservative in South Carolina state government and one of the most coveted endorsements of the 2012 “First in the South” presidential primary – will announce his support for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul on Sunday.

Davis will endorse Paul’s candidacy at a campaign event Sunday evening in Myrtle Beach, S.C. – confirming a report published earlier this week on Buzzfeed.

Paul’s campaign has described Davis’ forthcoming endorsement as “consequential” and “game-changing.” Why? Click here.

A first-term State Senator, Davis wields a disproportionate impact given his stellar fiscal voting record and his advocacy on behalf of key state-level reforms including a taxpayer rebate fund and an aggressive government restructuring bill (unlike the “restructuring in name only” pushed last year by Gov. Nikki Haley).

Davis has also pushed for individual income tax relief as opposed to taxpayer-funded incentives on the job creation front – arguing that the latter only shift the state’s tax burden onto small businesses.

Most importantly for the state’s economic future, however, Davis has been the leading proponent of a public-private Jasper Port terminal – although S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s recent “Savannah River Sellout” may have doomed that project.

“Senator Tom Davis’ fiscal conservative credentials are outstanding,” Matt Moore, executive director of the SCGOP, said recently. “Any candidate would do well to gain his endorsement.”

Not surprisingly, Davis’ nod has been among the most sought-after of the primary season. Last year, The Politico named him one of its “50 politicos to watch,” while a recent CNN story referenced him as a “rising star.”

In addition to Davis, several other leading fiscal conservatives in the S.C. General Assembly are also rumored to be endorsing Paul in the coming days. So stay tuned …

Can any South Carolina Freepers confirm this? Is this guy an important player with good credentials?

Wow. How sad that an otherwise intelligent person (seemingly) has fallen for Ron Paul’s delusions.

“Rick Santorum, recently spoke on the weight a Davis endorsement carries. Ruminating on the prospect Davis might endorse him the former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania told The Hilton Head Island Packet newspaper that, “To get an endorsement from someone like Tom Davis is a big deal. It would speak volumes to folks and make them take notice and give us a look.”

So what would an intelligent choice have been? Rick “Have More Kids to Save Social Security” Santorum?

Tom Davis, the guy who tried to block the world from knowing how the government let Walter Reed deteriorate or actually got federal government funding for Major League Baseball...

Yea.. that will fly. I’m surprised even Paultards want this endorsement.

It sounds like you are thinking of former Virginia Congressman Tom Davis, a RINO (though he did a good job running the NRCC).

This is a SC State Senator with the same name.

Ron Paul is crazy, delusion, not rational, liquified grey matter, how ever you want to put it.
Why anyone with a thinking brain would support him boggles the mind of rational people.
He is so far removed from reality I am going to start calling him alterpaul, because he must be living in an alternate universe.

Is an interesting article.

Reading that Perry and Huntsman camps are trying to leave but feel loyalty to them both since they haven't dropped out.

Those that have left Huntsman have gone over to Romney. More want to go as well.

Some in Perry's staff want to leave and join a winning team.
Expect a big exodus after Saturday .

Many on Perry's staff were real surprised he didn't drop out after Iowa.

If the SC T Party actually endorsed Ron alterPaul then they are as nuts as he is and that is sad.
If the SC T Party actually endorsed RonalterPaul then they are as racist and anti-Semitic as people think of the south and that is sad.
If the SC T Party actually endorsed Ron alterPaul then it is a shame they have been fooled by this fraud and that is sad.

The South Carolina Club for Growth rates Tom Davis a 100/A+ in 2011. Bear in mind that the club rates only financial votes. He is hailed by the club as a "Tax Payer Hero" in the Senate. Source.

If the SC T Party actually endorsed Ron...

Bear in mind in your comments that there is not a SC T Party. Rather, there are dozens of Tea Parties in South Carolina. Some towns have several.

A lot of Republicans are disgusted with their “choices” of Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, Huntsman, and Perry.

Paul is “none of the above”.

Ron Paul is NOT Tea Party. Ron Paul isn’t even conservative. Ron Paul’s anti-defense, anti-Constitution, pro-Occupy, Code Pinko endorsed, traitor-praising, racist newsletters, Soros partnering, Stormfront endorsed, conspiracy nut participating, America-blaming, KKK endorsed, Truther panderning crap is ANTI-Tea Party. Like that human debris crashes the GOP he and his cult try to crash the Tea Party. He is not welcome and not wanted because his ideology is offensive and dangerous.
