Didn't know that about Richard Todd. Thought he was just one of those movie morons. Thanks for the info.

Always saw the Bridge parts as the best part of "Longest Day." Wayne as Vandegrift (is that the correct name?) is good. Mitchum was good. Even that old drunk Burton was good in the wounded scene. Too many fat assed Hollywood types in the movie, though.

Haven't seen that movie in nearly forty years, funny what you remember.

Ideal. I like your way of thinking.

Hang in there. I used to be Liberal, may I be forgiven. Just call me a Copperhead.

1861-65 cost us the Republic. What a waste, what a corruption of politics, of justice. I can rant on this one, talk about cotton prices, change in spinning and weaving technology, the French breaking the English lock on cloth manufacture, the long struggle to control the Mississippi watershed.

Humans are sinful, destructive, and vile when they distance themselves from God. Thomas Jonathan Jackson was of the same opinion.

I thought the Pegasus Bridge scene was one of the best parts too.

John Wayne played Lt. Col. Benjamin Vandervoort. I believe Vandergrift was a Marine General.

I always thought the Omaha beach scene of the "grand charge" after they blow the wall was hockey. Everything I read said that the men got off the beach in small groups infiltrating the gullies like in Saving Private Ryan.

Air Force! We're the smart ones, we send the officers out to fight.

If you don't mind, I might just make that my new tagline.
