Doing Justice
Read:
|
In the decades since the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., the US national holiday established to commemorate his birth has also become a day to remember the cause in which he gave his life.
During the '50s and '60s, Dr. King led a nonviolent struggle against racial discrimination and issued a plea for the civil rights of African-Americans. His goal was justice and equality based on human dignity, not skin color.
From Old Testament days until now, God has commanded His people to exercise justice in their dealings with others. "You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice" (Exodus 23:2).
"He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" (Micah 6:8).
Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for doing their religious duties while neglecting "justice and the love of God" (Luke 11:42).
To treat people with fairness and integrity is part of our responsibility as Christians. Standing publicly for what is right is required of us as well.
May we honor God by living out truth in action in our world today. David McCasland
God's standard of justice leaves no room for prejudice.
Wow, I haven't seen that last photo before. Neat.

Heh heh heh
Hi there! I need to see your face again one of these days. Still busy getting this work together. I am enjoying just working for me. :-)
I saw the pictures of Bitty Girl that ya'll pinged me to. She is so BIG! :-)
Hi Snippy! My granddaughter that's from your town got to be with us for Christmas in Alabama. I was thinking of ya'll (especially *snif* when we had to put her on the plane to fly home.) She's gonna come and see ya'll one of these days when she can.
LOL.
Are you spying on me at work?
I'm glad she was able to visit with you all. We look forward to seeing her come in!
Good news! My grandfather, Nicholas Himber, served with the white tigers during his time in Korea. We only just received word from the army that he will be receiving six medals for his contributions there. As of this writing, we are unsure what these commendations are. Grandpa has been very reluctant to talk about his service over the years, but he has recently shed some light on his activities in Korea. Very fascinating and sometimes very sad. For years the V.A. has denied his claimsand said he wasn’t even in North Korea. The Army glossed his record over and denied he was there all together. Now they have opened the records (somewhat) and have begun taking care of him the way he deserved for all these years. Finally they have begun to do right by him and the family. Praise God! We are very proud of him and welcome all friends to join in when he is awarded the honors they have planned for this great man. I will post when the date is in concrete. Location should be missoula, MT
