I have a dvd of a special where some vets interviewed some former WWI soldiers who tell that Sgt York is a liar and his medal was a political stunt.

There are always people who will throw rocks at anyone on a pedestal.

Or a Cross, for that matter...

I have read several accounts of Sgt. York. I seem to recall there were a few things which may have been reported wrong but the basic story is correct.

Sometimes the official records can be wrong too but not in this case imo.

I remember my Father telling me about German jets bombing the bridge they were building. An anti-aircraft crew came to them and asked them to sign a statement that they shot one down. The engineers refused because they saw them fly away apparently undamaged. He said the gunners really pressed the issue saying they had put shots into the jets.
