Higher fees and co-pays for retirees and dependents using Tricare are inevitable. Every SecDef since Gates has been complaining about the high cost of retiree healthcare, so anyone using Tricare will be expected to pay more.
A couple of problems with this: first, the typical military retiree is not a general, Colonel or Sergeant Major; they are an E-6 with a little more than 20 years of service, and a monthly retirement check (after taxes and deductions) of less than $2000 a month—enough in many locations to pay the mortgage and that’s about it. Higher out-of-pocket medical expenses will create real problems for a lot of retired enlisted families.
Additionally, proposed changes in the medical program represent yet another broken promise to service members. When I enlisted 30 years ago, we were promised free, on-base health care for life for ourselves and our spouses. Guess Obama took his cue from the folks who made all those empty promises about military healthcare.

When was the last time this, or any Congress trimmed the swollen welfare roles of welfare thieving illegal aliens stealing from the American tax payer? Why is it now somehow an immoral or an unspeakable sin to even suggest enforcing the nations laws on illegal immigration or honest welfare reform or the financial propping up of tin-horn terrorist dictators and our over-abundant funding of our enemies around the world but it is completely okay to go after those who fought bravely and valiantly, who bled and even died for our nation and its lawful citizenry? I feel betrayed!!
I mean I feel like that when I woke one morning I have been made to feel like all of our elected PoS politicians had lost their flippant minds. To this veteran these PoS politicians seem to be telling me that illegal aliens and tin-horn terroristic despot dictators are now more important, more valuable to them than I am as the veteran who fought and bled for this once great nation and all we want is what was promised to us in exchange for our blood and/or lives.
I know I for one will never vote for another PoS politician that votes for this legislation or any legislation that harms the faithful, honorable veteran and their families no matter what the excuse is. And I have but missed only one election (and that was an off year local election) since 1968 and I have a long memory when it comes to dishonorable PoS pols.
If elected PoS pols are allowed to get away with this I'm afraid that this will only be the beginning for veterans and the military. I'm ready to march on them disabled or not.
