If anyone but the British had run Market-Garden, it would have had a better chance of succeeding. It was botched from the get-go. Montgomery and the British did not have the mindset for a daring, fast moving and changing operation like this. A Patton or someone like him was what an operation like this needed.

I admittedly haven't read near as much as you or our readers, but Montgomery seemed to fail at every turn, at least everything I've read so far. Seems to me he must have been pretty inept.
