LAST MINUTE EMERGENCY location change for tonight's DC Chapter Christmas Party (12/12/2003)
self | December 12, 2003 | tgslTakoma

Posted on 12/12/2003 1:05:38 PM PST by tgslTakoma

Stand by for LAST MINUTE EMERGENCY LOCATION CHANGE !!

...

THIS JUST IN !!!

Due to a grievous error on the part of The Orleans House, in which they wrote down an incorrect telephone number, they canceled our reservation tonight.

NOT TO WORRY, THOUGH !!! The show will go on! The time remains the same (7pm) for tonight; the location has changed...

THE NEW LOCATION IS:
Marco Polo Restaurant, in Rosslyn, VA. only 1/2 block from the Rosslyn Metro station. And, most importantly in any urban area... FREE PARKING!

I will look up a map on Yahoo and an address, and post within a few minutes.

Hold onto your seats, folks. I'm doing this on the fly...

Please help me out here, folks and ping the others ASAP!!!

Thanks!

Make sure the ORLEANS house has this info to give to those who show up there or post someone outside for a little while. Make some flyers etc. drop them off with exacts on how to get to the new place.

Man this totally sucks as I plan the NYC party I totally dread something like this. My big fear now is that it snows which I am sure you guys worried about too.

ANYWAY dont forget to mention our party 12/28 in NYC We would so love for many of you to come on up : ))))

Yay!! We have one person so far who I know has gotten the message!!!

Thanks for asking. The restaurant is on 19th Street between N. Moore St and Ft. Myer Drive.

Here's a map of the area... (remember, the Rosslyn Metro is in the middle of the block on Moore Street. Ignore the star on the map; it's off a little bit. The restaurant is on the NORTH side of 19th Street and the WEST side of Moore St.... They have a big sign on the front of the establishment that should help everyone find it, I hope)

Thanks for the bump and the encouraging words. What a nightmare for us!

I'm thinking I should make a sign and stand out in front of the Orleans House, so that we don't lose anyone in this fiasco.

I would love to come up for the NY Christmas party, but I have to wait until some things fall into place (or completely apart) in my non-FReeper life before I'll know for sure if I can make the road trip. I should know for sure by 12/18. (Nothing is ever simple, is it?)

New location is only 1 block from the Orleans House (which I don't think I'll ever eat at again, after this screw-up...)

Ignore those directions! Haste made waste.

I asked the AdminMod to pull it so no one gets screwed up and lost.

Wow! That was fast. Thanks for getting those (incorrect) directions pulled so quick, Taxman.

FYI, this Marco Polo restaurant just opened two weeks ago, and they aren't even listed with "information" yet.

LOL!

Not THAT Marco Polo...

Look up at the top of the thread for the map I posted.

Take the Metro to Rosslyn station. When you get out of the station onto N. Moore Street, instead of turning up the hill towards the Orleans House, head down the street (towards the river and Key Bridge. Walk 1/2 block to 19th Street and you will see MARCO POLO restaurant on the other side of the street, between N. Moore Street and Ft. Myer Drive.

Dang! I just moved to NOVA from California, and I am just downstream in Alexandria. Can any Freeper come? Or was there a sign up? I am on a strict diet for heart problems, so I won't need to eat, or anything...

I'll run through the rain room and get cleaned up just in case I get the GO code...

I wouldn't want to be the person at the Orleans house who cancelled the reservation. I hope they are making this up to DC Freepers. Then again, this is an opportunity for reviews for the new restaurant. Freeper Zagat. lol.
