I'd be perfectly happy if grocery stores stopped accepting checks altogether. They simply take to long to write and process. Cash is king!

There are not very many of us who use that stuff anymore.
I like the anonymity though. Even the stores that use those preferred customer cards don't know my name (they only think they do). And I know I'm not the only one. Once I went to Safeway and couldn't find my card, they said it was okay, just give them my phone number. Thinking nothing of it, I gave my own phone number instead of the phony one I use for those cards, and they said "are you Mr. So and So"? And it wasn't my name, or the one I use on those cards. I said "no, but close enough". The clerks don't care anyway - they just go through the motions required of them to keep their jobs.
