WAYS TO ASSIST/SUPPORT HOMELAND DEFENSE
Many | 10/5/01 | A Navy Vet

Posted on 10/05/2001 1:11:23 PM PDT by A Navy Vet

September 11, 2001 changed the American way of life possibly forever. We are no longer protected by the vast expanses of ocean - the barbarians are within our own gates. We have been been given a very large, ugly dose of reality and find ourselves in an unfamiliar and vulnerable position. We find ourselves having to defend our families, homes, and freedom on our own soil.

Because of the events of 9/11, homeland security (civil defense) has now become our country's top priority. This thread is to provide a central location for opportunities to assist in our mutual defense. Feel free to post any public information that would support in this effort.

Although the creation of a new federal cabinet post and bureaucracy is a debatable action, please do not use this thread to argue the merits of that issue.

All of these fine organizations deserve our support and appreciation. They cannot, of course, do the job alone. Responsible Americans everywhere must become armed, and trained in the use of arms, and we must all open our eyes and be vigilant against danger. The job is made nearly impossible, of course, by the fact that there are one million legal temporary visa-holders from suspect countries here in our midst. A significant fraction of these legal visitors from suspect countries are here to do us maximum harm. We are right to protect ourselves and we can count on the help of the fine organizations listed here, but of course it will all come to nothing when the next attack occurs. The next attack is coming. Far worse than the last. Terrorists here on legal visas are working for the next big massacre. That is a sure thing. All the kings horses and all the kings men...

It doesn't much matter how much we give,
The terrorists hate the fact that we live,
They come from a culture incurably sick,
It only makes sense that we send them home quick.

The best defense is a good offense-- Boot Gary Condit OFF the Homeland Subcommittee, and out of the House of Representatives.

"US Coast Guard Auxillary"

The Navy said I was too old, The Oregon National Guard would not accept me because I just turned 53.
I met with the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla Commander 10/3
and it turns out that I have a few skills that they need and can utilize.
My application should be approved in about 10 days.
Also as of Sept 11 the Coast Guard itself is under the command of the Department of Defense.
While the Auxiliary is not part of the military, it can and does support military actions.
It's not exactly like being in the military,
BUT it gives me a chance to help the Coast Guard, thru the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

And I will take an oath to defend the Constitution and will be reqiured to
wear a uniform while performing Coast Guard Auxiliary duties.
Since I live on the Oregon Coast it gives me a chance
to help do things that will free up the Coast Guard for more urgent matters.
For example the Coast Guard Auxiliary can assist in military and/or boarding parties but not actually participate.
So a Coast Guard Auxiliary boat could take Coast Guard crews to board a ship,
but would not be allowed to actually board the ship with them.
The time I spend is whatever I "pledge", more if I want.
But just like the military, you have to train
and pass tests before you can actually perform duties.
I'm just glad that this old rusty tin can sailor can help protect our country again.

Call a local gun shop, they should know where you go and what your state's laws are for carrying concealed.

BEFORE you get the permit, JOIN THE NRA! After you get the permit...join the International Defensive Pistol Association. Then participate in the monthly matches of the club nearest you. THIS is the organization which will impart to you the NECESSARY SKILLS to survive a hostile street encounter. many IDPA clubs also do combat shotgun and tactical rifle...these are good items to become familiar with as well!

"BEFORE you get the permit, JOIN THE NRA!"

The NRA helped draft the Brady Bill.
Just what our enemies want, people registering their guns so files can be hacked into and people rounded up.
That is why our Founding Fathers DID NOT call for gun registeration.

Time for America to do away with ALL laws that violate the 2nd amendment.

Text of the Second Amendment
"A well regulated Militia
being necessary to the security of a free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."

Anyone who actually reads AND understands the 2nd Amendment
will see that there is no constitutional authority for any type of gun registration
and *there is no need for anyone to have to apply for a license to carry a gun.
*NOTE Vermont is the only state that understands this!
Any political party, politician, judge (etc), organization or individual who trys to convince you that:
1) you must register a firearm
2) you must pass a background check
3) you must wait (x) amount of days before you can get your firearm
4) you need to have a license to carry a gun
is either uneducated about OUR rights as citizens
OR is actively working to undermine OUR country.
How Did the Founders Understand the Second Amendment?

How the Brady Bill Passed (and subsequently - "Instant Check")
When the Brady Bill was passed into law on November 24, 1993,
the Senate voted on the Conference Report
and passed the Brady Bill by UNANIMOUS CONSENT.

NOT ONE SENATOR FROM EITHER PARTY VOTED AGAINST THIS.

Here in LI Sound the USCGA is activly assisting the USCG stations in New Haven and New London. The local PD and Fire boats are also being used much more to assist with SAR and Port defense.

Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown

#1 GET REAL
#2 I AGREE with you in principle...but GET REAL! Ain't gonna happen!
#3 The NRA handed the election to BUSH. Gore and Clinton have publicly accepted this. So should you. In fact, I believe that all those onerous evil bills to which you allude actually served as an important wake up call to all gun owners and they are not set into stone...having a SUNSET clause which will cause them to automatically expire. Think the NRA is going to allow their renewal? See the first sentence of #3 above.
#4 Is the NRA the final answer to our gun control problems? Of course not...I personally like the Gun Owners of America better...but I'll throw them more support when THEY get over 4 MILLION members! In the meantime, see the first sentence of #3 above.
#5 NOW is the time to take the offensive (in a REAL ...not fantasy manner) in a legislative sense. We need to be putting pressure on Congress to pass a federal law that makes state concealed weapons permits reciprocal between states IAW the 2nd Amendment and more importantly the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the 14th Amendment so that just as our DRIVERS LICENSES are good in all states (the binding precedent) so too, should our gun permits be recognized. This should be done as an adjunct to any "Homeland Defense Bill" Congress decides to enact...this is of course a matter of national security.

The 2nd amendment, as written by our Founding Fathers is REAL, all else is fantasy.
