Peggy Noonan: The Enduring Glory of Red, White and Blue

NEW YORK -- I love our flag. I love the way it looks, so handsomely designed, and with such strong and lively colors. I love what it was created to signify. The stars are the states. Fifty states, 50 stars. Those bright stars dominate, but are also held together by a field of dark blue, which you can imagine as our federal government. The stars aren't sewn into the blue on big official American flags but onto the blue, which is fitting, since the states created the federal government, not the other way around. So they adorn--and dominate--the thing they created.

Gosh I love Peggy Noonan. I am a pretty jaded S.O.B., and this really choked ME up.

Bump for absolutely the greatest speechwriter of our time...Peggy Noonan. She was one of the key reasons why President Ronald Reagan was known as 'the Great Communicator'.

This was a wonderful contrast to the anti-flag screed in the LA Times by one Caroline See, English professor, novelist, and brain - dead leftist, posted elsewhere on this forum.

*tears* and thanks to God that we live in the United States. God bless us; and especially Peggy Noonan for all of the inspirational columns she has written in the past few weeks.

Per Ms. Noonan:
Here is an idea. All this patriotism is very nice and moving and sweet, but it will be even better if it becomes very meaningful. Here's one way. (This is what I'm going to do today, Sunday, with my son.)

Go to your computer and go to a site--there are a lot of them--that has the U.S. Constitution. Click and print. Then get the Bill of Rights, in a special separate version.

Click, print. Go to the Declaration of Independence. Click and print. Then get one of the little flags or flag decals or pins everyone has now.

Take all those papers, still warm from the printer, in your hand. And say to your child, "See these words? These words are what this flag means. This flag--these words. People literally died holding this flag up in battle--because it represented these words. These are great words. Let's read them.

"We hold these truths ... "

Just click and print ... for freedom!

Bump for your suggestion!

"I love our flag. I love the way it looks, so handsomely designed, and with such strong and lively colors. I love what it was created to signify."

AMEN, there is none to compare in beauty and symbolism! FREEDOM!!!!

Bump for your suggestion!

Thanks - but just so its clear - its Peggy Noonan's suggestion from the end of her article - I just added some links to make it easier.

You have to click the link at the top to see her entire piece as we currently can't post complete articles from the Lost Angeles Times or the Washington Compost due to their anti-freedom of speech lawsuit.

I'll see your bump for freedom and raise you with a bump for our guys and gals protecting us and ours!

Reminded me of the scene in Mel Gibson's "The Patriot" where he raises his son's flag toward the end of the movie ...

I heard a funny story the other day about a woman in a hair salon grousing about seeing so many flags and how sick she was of it. She even said she'd like to take them all down and burn them.

The owner of the salon, a man, was shampooing her hair at the time, and he just stopped what he was doing and ordered her out of his shop, head full of shampoo and all. And that's how she left, all shampooed up.
*LOL*

Peggy Noonan's piece is fabulous. It is also what Alan Keyes has been saying for decades.

Please drop by Declaration Foundation to see what we all can do together to restore American Principles.

Disclaimer ...I am the President of the Declaration Foundation.

Cheers,
