Are the Munsters running "Homeland Security?" You decide.

Tom Ridge looked like he was holding an audition for Halloween during his press conference this afternoon. Norton bobbed her head up and down in clownish makeup. Some drunk from the "Letter Carrier's" union prattled on an on .

Tom Ridge, when asked if mail service would be curtailed said it was not up to him and dragged out a dead fish eyed clown from USPS management. Then he deferred to a doctor on the question of anthrax, a doctor the likes of which we see too much of in Florida, the type which cannot get a real practice going but feeds off government. This baby doc stuttered his way through....saying nothing we do not know.

Probably the worst part was when Ridge said all the talk about "weaponized" anthrax lends nothing to the debate but confuses people.

Bush has the best team on foreign affairs I have seen in my lifetime. But he has the F team on domestic problems. This is no time for anyone to learn on the job. Thompson and Ridge should be gone tomorrow.

Doing so would help Bush....we all know he is no BS, about time he got rid of the those who wallow in it and think we notice.

Now.

Oh...for the proof that Ridge is Eddie:

Tell me Tom Ridge is not Eddie Munster:

Are you saying he should get rid of Ridge and the Fatherland Security position too?

There is a resemblence to Eddie Munster. Maybe you should give the new guy on the block a few months to get the other gummint agencies in line.

Man, just the title of this cracked me up! The likeness is eerie.

That little Eddie picture certainly does look like Ridge. Nice to see that, in the name of bipartisanship, he has Robert Reich on his lap.

I say give Ridge a chance to get used to the national spotlight. Even W was a bit unsure of himself at first.

You know Fred, things have changed so much since you and I were kids. It is all appearance now. Remember when Taft was president? All 300+ single man pounds of him would be dead today...ah...for the good old days when thoughts matter.

A third rate wanna-be TV star could have done better today than Ridge.

Go easy on him, maybe he just had gas and was cramping a bit.

Excerpted from:
THE INTERNATIONAL FORECASTER 20, October , 2001

The Office of Homeland (Fatherland) Security will be immune from Congressional oversight or judicial review or regulatory control. If you may, above the law. Thus, it is extra-legal, judicial and legislative. Even though George Bush will chair it it will be extra-executive. The power of this agency is extraordinary. It even does away with protecting whistle blowers. This new super agency guts the whistleblower Protection act and the Freedom of Information Act. The office of Homeland (Fatherland) Security is immune from any public request for information. It submits no accounting, not even to the GAO. It can suspend habeas corpus, whenever it pleases. They can detain you for years without limitations. They have completely suspended the fourth Amendment privilege of unwarranted search and seizure. They can seize assets without judicial procedure. The assets of any person or news agency, which would attempt to disseminate the truth, can be seized. There is now no 5th Amendment protection against self-incrimination. Torture and interrogation is authorized under Section 409C of the National Security Act. They can even now label politicians seditious and stop them from disseminating ideas. They are talking about reviving the Seditious Publications Act of 1942 through which publications can be terminated if they are in disagreement with the agency. What we publish would be considered seditious and unpatriotic, because it exposes elitist and government lies and deceit...

The Federal Appeals Court in New Orleans has ruled that the constitution guarantees individuals a right to have firearms, but said the right was subject to some regulations, leaving the door open for gun control provisions. They said there is a constitutional right for individuals to bear arms, contrary to most court decisions, which have said the Second Amendment gives only a collective right, such as for state militia units. It is unlikely the Supreme Court will review the decision. The ruling sets law only for federal courts in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

I thought Ridge was straight spoken, helpful, and did a fine job.

Most of my attention was on Norton-Holmes however, I still can't believe she never picked her nose in all that time. She looked at it, she wriggled it, she scratched at it.
I thought they put her there, right in the middle of the screen, for comic relief- but it was all a tease.

I wonder if this thread will stay up. I posted a Freeper poll to see if we could rename the Office of Homeland Security and it was deleted. My 3 suggestions weren't complimentary.

Did you see the news conference today? I expected the Lollipop Guild to pop up any minute and start welcoming them to Munchkin land.

Let me be succinct:

For years freepers have been suggesting gun ownership for everyone. I have not owned a gun in decades. After watching this Ridge Halloween performance, I do believe freepers were right.

So should any NRA, JPFO, GAO types be lurking...put me on your Bang_list.

Now that is a depressing thought. I stewed and thought about what I saw for over 6 hours. And took the time to find the photos too!

As the LP people and others here know, I am a conservative, I do not bash Bush (see above), and I want the best for our movement. But geeeezzzzzz...get some people on TV who can articulate it...

If I am ticked, it does not harbour (pssst..Andy Rooney...I don't have any harbours, it is a figure of speech) well for any of us.

I waited until late at night to post my poll so that I wouldn't be cluttering up the forum during a news cycle. Alas, my thread lasted all of 90 seconds ;)

But I'm not harboring a resentment. How could I? I have no coastline.
