October 23, 2001 -- President Bush is pulling no punches in his effort to get Osama bin Laden.

After last month's attacks on New York and Washington, Bush unleashed the CIA to "do whatever is necessary" to capture or kill the terrorist chieftain, The Washington Post reported Sunday.

How about we take the same "by any means necessary" approach to preventing the coming biological holocaust on US soil? Frankly, if OBL lives another twenty years at the bottom of a cave in Afghanistan, it makes little difference to me. I am much more concerned about his agents, currently at large in this country and equipped with weapons of mass destruction. And let's forget about PC and multiculturalism and peace and love and understanding, forget about the economy and consumer confidence and buying a new houseboat and flying to Timbuktu, forget it all until we have addressed this problem. In six weeks, the terrorists could bring this country to a standstill anyway, using only the tools we know they have at their disposal. Something tells me that's exactly what they are going to do, and that's just as a warm-up for their big number.

1: we were ATTACKED

2: 5000 are dead...not including the unconfirmed deaths from the attacks

3: to say we shouldnt strike back is like saying "oh well i dont care if someone i cared for or myself was killed."

4: your lucky im not dubya...cuz he used the term "any means necessary" to him that means he's gonna do what he feels is right including kicking some major al-qaeda butt too if that were me...id have all you peaceniks blacklisted as traitors doesnt sound american does it? well you insisting that we fall too our knees and letting those whose die die meaningless id say thats not very american

P.S to any freepers that disagree with that..im sorry but since the 11th all i feel is anger that we get attacked and people dont care.

Great post. I only wish this editorial would have pointed out that the Clinton administration rewarded its Hollywood supporters by having the CIA focus on video piracy.

To be fair, Clinton did an interview with the New York Times a couple of years back in which he predicted that the greatest threat to America would come from terrorists with weapons of mass destruction. Apparently, he didn't feel it was appropriate to do anything about it, however.

And?

For everyone of them, there are thousands of American patriots to counter them.

So far in this war we have 6000+ dead at the WTC. We also have 3 dead from biological weapons. That still gives us pretty good odds, 280,000,000 against thousands.

I'll take those odds anytime.

Because are leaders were too busy getting there wang dangled while coked up in the whitehouse, that's why this happened.

I lay it all @ kliton's stinky feet=he was "leader in chief" when this could have been prevented.

I glad our juvenile national representative Howard Stern finally had the balls to call him a ðîçkhead on national radio yesterday, even his more rational, mature & intellegent news lady, Robin, admitted it was his fault!

& his evil Evita wife still wants to be president even after getting boooed by thousands just for showing her skanky double sided face.

Indeed, the most heartbreaking news is that U.S. agents had located bin Laden last spring, but neither the CIA nor the military was equipped to take action. If they had, well . . . Sept. 11 might be just a date on the calendar.
Ugh, you mean we had a chance to take him out a few months ago? Why didn't we?

The short list of blame starts with Senator Frank Church, may he rot..
and ends with Gore contesting the election which truncating transition, Clinton's last minute executive orders set as time bombs for the incoming Bush administration to wade through, and Jefford's defection giving control of the Senate to the Democrats who then slowed and fought all the midlevel appointments that could have aided the Bush administration.
In the middle we have Clinton using political correctness to gut human intelligence resources and focus groups to decide how to conduct foreign policy and the defense of the United States.

It is a morass of mischief.

The "old theory" for not assasinating leaders - or for torturing prisoners - is we don't want the same thing happening to us. But our enemy doesn't play by any rules - so all bets are off? Well, maybe.

"do whatever is necessary" to capture or kill the terrorist chieftain,

Here's how we get OBL:

RATS!

New York subway rats. Put transmitters on them and turn them loose in the caves. They'll seek out food and, at the same time, map the caves.

After 8 years of Clinton and what, 4 years of Clinton's choice, Tenet, running the CIA I wonder if this organization has what it takes to "do whatever is necessary". From what I've been reading the CIA has pretty much gotten rid of those who had what it took to bring down someone like Bin Laden; I've read of station chiefs who were forced into retirement for things they had originally received awards for 8 - 10 years prior to Clinton's presidency. Sweet irony would be Bush firing Tenet and bringing back one of the old boars who was fired for being "politically incorrect (with extreme prejudice").

The rats will do fine job, they're every bity bit as smart as most of us!

In college I was in charge of taking care of all the lab rats for years, so I speak from a mature point of personal experience.

They got so the escapees could tell if I was packin'{I used a water gun for control}.

If they knew I didn't have my gun or it was far enough out of reach, they would calculate the risk of continuing the escape.
