Your#6: Stupid yes, but not for the reasons you stated. Letting a dual citizen, who has openly expressed loyalty to a country other than the USA, stay on a job dealing with top secrets of this country's intelligence is absolutely STUPID. Israel is not the United States, just a reminder for some people.

Israeli hawk, Southern Christian here. I am totally pissed at the way the Arabists in the State Dept. are behaving but with this issue about this particular major, I really don't think that we all on this thread have enough info to be making solid comments from either the pro or anti-Israel contingents.

I would like to know much more before I'm willing to bash Rumsfeld and Co.

The major in question going immediately to press is not a favorable sign. IMHO

Thanks for your comments. Your Top Secret clearance is also updated every five years where they check you out for the past five years. My guess is that something came up in that 5-year update. There is definitely more to this story and his being Jewish has absolutely nothing to do with yanking the clearance. They do not yank clearances after spending all the money on investigations because of your religion. His going to an Israeli paper speaks volumes IMO!

If so then why is Wolfowitz so prominent at the pentagon. I love Wolfowitz BTW and I'm not yet buying into all this as an anti-Israel dig. If it were coming from State then you would most assuredly have a point.

The Bush administration is replete with some damn good conservative Jews who I'm very happy with (as opposed to the crowd Clinton dragged along)...I just don't buy all this anti-Jewish stuff...yet. The irony at the State Dept. is that many of the Arabist lackeys are indeed Jews themselves. One could say the same about Pali sympathizers in the media.

Among the many stupid things our Congress has done, the granting of dual citizenship to certain Americans has got to be one of the dumbest! You can't serve two masters. How does the Army know which side one of its soldiers will take when two competing nations have policies that collide and are in conflict? This guy should renounce one or the other of his "dual" loyalties".

Im talking national loyalty and you've converted that into religious loyalty...

What's the differenc?

And I might add that the Army major as far as we know has done nothing wrong...while Ames and Hanssen...well...you know. I mean the wingnuts whine endlessly about Pollard - so sauce for the goose sauce for the gander.

Would it be "anti-Muslim bigotry" if a Saudi military veteran with dual citizenship in Saudi Arabia and the US was forced out of his Army Intelligence post? I don't think so.

The bulk of the absentee ballots in Florida, other than Military were postmarked "Isreal."

Maybe that's why so many of them got lost!

On the surface at least, it looks like this guy was a spy since he immediately went to the press, so I have no problem with him losing his clearance.

What bothers me about it, though, is I'm sure we have Muslim spies in the military, too (as well as other areas of the government); but we wouldn't rescind their clearances for fear of offending the Muslims. Kind of ironic that we get rid of the ally and harbor the enemy.

Well ... to be honest I do consider them special when it comes to being God's chosen people.

Can you imagine anyone's being more "simpatico" than Abraham ... who was prepared to sacrifice his own son and submit in perfect trust and love to God's will ... whether he understood it or not?

The voice of the Jews as it rings through the ages in Psalms and other writings of the Bible is extraordinary, I think, for its zeroing in on, complaining to, hiding from, bartering with, relying on, trusting in and longing for God in a most direct and personal and loving way you just don't see in any other civilization even though theirs is a universal experience. They are special. How could Christians possibly not understand the perfection of Christ's birth as a Jew?

But I just see no reason to extend my regard for Judaism to the State of Isreal, that's all ... particularly given the latter's supposed "religious" signifance which seems to me at absolute odds with the facts of its founding, not to mention the decidedly secular and political in origin "Star of David" on its flag.

LOL! No, I’m not a racist. How about yourself?

Just because I don’t think “Mexico First”, and I don’t care for Mexicans in this country who place Mexico first on their political agenda, that doesn’t mean I dislike Mexicans or Hispanics. In fact, I’ve traveled to Mexico many times on vacations and mission trips.

What you guys try to do is make people who disagree with you in any way seem like “racists”. This is an old propaganda trick that was perfected by the Marxist-Leninist Communists in the early 20th Century.

People like Jesse Jackson use this technique too. He calls anyone who disagrees with him in any way a “racist”, even if the disagreement doesn’t have anything at all to do with race.

That is why Lincoln refused to go to war for the slaves, but however saw that the South was developing tendencies against the Northerners as they were siding with England and the slave trade powers.

This is nonsense. After the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 the war was very much about slavery. The second part of your sentence makes no sense however I read it. England was a leading voice against slavery and the slave trade by 1860 and never recognized the Confederacy. I expect the "irregulars" (such as Quantrill) would be classed as terr*rists today (although they would no doubt consider themselves freedom foghters) but they were active thoughout the war, and indeed before and after the war.

By the way-after all the BS flights of fancy- how many votes came to the US from Israel. Was your hand sufficient or did you also need to take off your shoes to count then all?

People should not be residing in another country and influencing our elections (unless on some kind of foreign service).

It is sickening to hear people being labeled anti-semitic or a proponent of Nazi-ism for espousing anything less than 100% support for Israel. It is a manipulative, shameful way to deal with people who ask questions that need to be asked.

Why can't we examine Israel's actions toward the Palestinians? Why can't America demand that her citizens not have dividing loyalties? Why is questioning what Israel does labeled "un-American"?

There's no justification for someone holding dual citizenship with ANY other country to be in a leadership position in OUR military, and there's certainly no justification for him to have high level clearance.

Your cut and paste job was from here:

ZIONISM - DARK HISTORY RECORD

This is from JAMIATUL ULAMA (KZN) ISLAMIC WEBSITE. Here is what they say about the 9/11 attacks: (LOL...LOL)

The Jamiat urges the Muslim community to issue statements to the media, offering condolences to the innocent victims, with a plea to exercise restraint in indulging in any type of speculation. Muslims should also get prepared to put their case before the media. For example: Professor Paul Rogers, of Bradford University's peace department, warned against assuming Middle East extremists were behind the tragedy. "We've been here before. With Oklahoma, everybody assumed it was Middle East [terrorists], then it turned out to be home-grown Timothy McVeigh," he said. "Again with the pipe bomb in Atlanta, it turned out to be domestic." (the Guardian). Make sure the reporters and editors and radio talkshow hosts hear it time and time again. However ensure to maintain a balance and moderation. Do not become extreme in stating your case. It only harms the image of Islam and Muslims.

The only reason we don't get along with Israel is because we want to appease terrorist-loving closet fanatics. I don't buy this Israel-bashing nonsense. So what if Israelis bombed a few terrorists? Good. So what if Israel is opposed to a new terrorist state? Good. The only time we oppose Israel is when we are in the wrong.

No. Israel isn't pure as the driven snow. Are we? Someone said we should not follow Israel's failed policy. First of all, we aren't a tiny nation bordered by vicious enemies. Secondly, we don't have over a million stone-throwing fanatics inside our borders. And thirdly, why should Israel follow our failed policy?

When did Israel lose 6,000 people to terrorists in a single day? Maybe a few thousand years ago. Not recently. So why should they respect our brilliant ideas?

Israel has the best human intel agency on earth. And, their agents are particularly good at infiltrating Islamic terrorists. Bush might have the purse strings to yank their chain, but we need to respect them too. Israel recently had an appeaser run their country, hand-picked by Clinton. It was a disaster.

Freegards....

I do however always get a tad suspicious when long UNLINKED items show up on threads. It's a dead giveaway.

I have read enough junk from those sites to know that they are filled with lies.

Exactly. Dual citizenship calls into question the decision to grant a high security clearance. It may have been part of a routine review of clearances, which happens from time to time.

Yep, it could have been for any number of reasons, but for sure there was a reason. The fact that the fellow blabs about it to the press and tries to claim discrimination based on religion shows that he didn't deserve the clearance anyway.

I don't blame you for questioning dual citizenship. I personally think this way... Islamic states can't get along with anyone. So anyone that drives them as nuts as the Isrealis are doing the right thing. And the only time Jews get in trouble with anyone is when they are slandered. For example, the Jewish Banker Conspiracy Theory. Supposedly, Jewish bankers run the earth. There is only one problem with that theory. If Jewish bankers were so powerful, why hasn't Israel been more agressive and sent Bush's ambassadores packing by now? Why is Arafat still alive if Jewish bankers dominate the world economy?
