Pakistan has a legitimate interest in who rules its chronically unstable eastern neighbor. Not to be too picky, but isn't Afghanistan Pakistan's western neighbor?
So what makes you think he wasn't speaking about India? They haven't been a shining example of stability either. None of the countries in that region are.

Finally he's shown himself willing to be part of the Republican (and American) team.I think you are being slickly dupped. Biden is yinging Bush for a 'bombing letup', while McCain is yanging him for a 'bombing increase'. It's the ole double wammy , preplanned, which is dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.
These guys should be wamming the 'funtamenta Muslims' and stop attacking Bush by sending surreptitious trial balloons.

Outstanding article by Senator McCain. He is exactly right. I believe this is the Bush administration position. Tactics, political as well as military, need to be employed, but the goal, and the steps needed to achieve that goal, are clearly stated by McCain.
