As a native New Yorker who still lives and works in NYC to this day, I say that America will not be destroyed even if this city is nuked.

Detonate  it on Wall Street and it will contaminate a lot of important property including very important computers and kill a lot of essential people. Would spook our economy and send markets crashing.

Principally, We must get America's financial center, Wall St. OUT of New York...perhaps the apparatus of Wall St should be segmented into many areas OR brought completely online if that is possible...the days of the stock floor with all the shouting and stuff are vunerable & out-moded AND NOW dangerous for our economy. NYC is a big loser in all of this and redundancy and technology a big winner. Citibank and the other big boys who stand to be rendered extinct surely must be scrambling to protect shareholder value by backing up NYC operations. Ditto for the big re-insurance outfits and the media. NYC is a huge asset, make no mistake. Does anyone have a take on the net worth of NYC in real estate, goodwill etc. I bet it's close to a half a tril.

Gee that's so re-assuring and also flat wrong. C'mon man. Manhattan is a small place. the WTC almost poisoned the lower side. A nuke would send about 10 million people for Long Island to Newark on a refugee trek, make no mistake. It would be game, set and match if a nuke was popped off on the Island.
