Fortunately for OJ , Dershowitz had Pollard to hone his skills with..

And jury duty being what it is may have had something to do with Pollard's life sentence penalty...jury nullification.

As a matter of fact some of the actual treasonous charges were dropped against Pollard in order to gain a guilty conviction....a plea bargain was reached...

So what?......exactly the question Clinton asked ...

What will happen to me [and my legacy]if I pardon Pollard?
And what will happen to me and my legacy if I don't pardon Pollard?

The article is timeless and comprehensive.
All things lacking from the recent apologist dribble.

I wonder why Robert Hanssen needed money. Nose candy? Women? Men?
. Hmmmmmmmm. What religion is he?

I could careless, he should rot along with Pollard.
They are both lucky they avoided execution.
Get off your religious thang. I don't care what religion Pollard is.. Anyway you and your apologist continue to igonore the fact that Pollard took money for his efforts.. What a Patriot... NOT. He, along with the little lady shared and offered to share Intel with other countries for fun a profit.

The job required high-level security clearances, and the Navy, which knew nothing about the C.I.A.'s assessment, eventually gave them to Pollard. His initial assignments dealt with the study of surface-ships systems in non-Communist countries, and, according to Pollard's superiors, his analytical work was excellent. While at Suitland, however, he repeatedly told colleagues far-fetched stories about ties he had with Mossad, the Israeli foreign-intelligence agency, and about his work as an operative in the Middle East.

Naval Intelligence.
Right.
Pollard had help; did any of his supervisors or peers get nailed?

"Pollard had help"

Agreed, either it was poor security review or he was sponsored.
The hiring of such a flagrant screwball/zealot is curious say the least.

If Tenet and company hadn't threatened to resign Pollard would be loose now. I have to give them credit for making that hard choice.

Seems you know the lingo is legitimate as well.

To know the term "nose candy" = cocaine, you didn't need to be a cocaine user,
member of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Emergency Room Physician,
forensics lab chemist, or Liberatrian Drug-Legalization Advocate.
You just had to be awake and listen to some episodes of "Hill Street Blues" or
"Miami Vice".
The term "nose candy" as in cocaine got thrown around on more than a couple of episodes.

I bet they will stay off this post hoping it will die soo fewer will read it.The article may be long read but it provides clarity to an issue only clouded by his fan club.

Shaun Pine.

Pollard is not guilty of Treason. The crime of Treason would have required, and still requires, that one offers aid and comfort to an Enemy. Israel is not an enemy. Treason is a capital offense -- constitutionally the ONLY Federal capital offense.

Those who are hot with desire to string Pollard up are stringing the Constitution up with him.

That's it.

"Maj. Shawn Pine, commander of the 300th Military Intelligence Company of Austin, Texas, holds dual U.S.-Israeli citizenship and received his top security clearance in 1990 — until it was revoked this summer.

While Pine says the reasons are rooted in anti-Semitism, the army says it's just implementing a simple rules change.

Pine's story, which first appeared in the Jerusalem Post, brings up concerns of heightened sensitivity in the U.S. armed forces to officers with Israel connections.

Pine was born in the United States and immigrated to Israel with his family in the late 1970s. Like other Israeli citizens, he entered the Israel Defense Force, serving in the elite Golani Brigade."

He went to the Jerusalem Post with his story.

Do you imagine a fact as easily as you imagine what the Law is? When you nake the bold claim, "He went to the Jerusalem Post with his story.", can you back that up? Perhaps the Jerusalem Post contacted Mr. Pine. It is something called "News", you know. Or is it that in your imaginary world there is no news, for you are the God of it?

I seem to recall something a while back about some government official (or candidate for appointment) who was denied his security clearance because he had dual U.S. and *Irish* citizenship, if you can imagine that. It was in the context of an article talking about how dual citizenship was becoming trendy, but that people didn't realize there is a potential downside, since some people in our government don't want to take any chances with dual loyalties. (Sure, the Irish seem pretty innocuous today, but who knows what might happen? After all, we used to think the French were our allies.)

Saying Israel is not an ally because they have spied on the US is an obviously false argument considering that the US just like most other countries spies on just about every country in the world. The article itself talks of the US spying on Israel and other allies.
Another question to ask: Did his actions actually have any negative effect? Even if information was given to the Soviets, that doesn't mean actual harm was caused other than America losing points in the intelligence game of the Cold War. Also, legally, can the government go back on a plea offer? What did they offer him that persuaded him to plead guilty? Or was he stupid enough to plead with no actual promise?

It's not up for him to decide which secrets foreign countries should receive. It's up to his superiors, and it's his job to ensure that their decisions are put into place.
