A tornado was reported in or near the City of Birmingham during the past hour. The NWS reported that the tornado was on the ground.

As we move into the afternoon and evening hours, severe thunderstorms containing large hail, gusty winds and possible tornadoes will march across Alabama into western Georgia. Currently, a tornado watch is in effect for Mississippi and Alabama until this evening. Further north across the Ohio and Tennessee Valley's hail and wind will be the main threat. Ft. Rucker Alabama has been evacuated due to four tornado's being spotted. Evacuation effective 3:20pm EST.
